Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Elderly Caregiver in Willimantic to provide exceptional support and assistance to seniors in various care settings. In this vital role, you will promote independence, ensure safety, and enhance the quality of life for elderly residents. Duties

  • Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
  • Monitor patient health by checking vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and temperature regularly
  • Administer medications accurately following care plans and HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality
  • Support residents with memory care needs, including Alzheimer’s and dementia care strategies, ensuring safety and comfort
  • Prepare nutritious meals tailored to dietary restrictions and assist with feeding as needed
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping tasks such as cleaning, laundry, and organizing personal spaces
  • Use specialized equipment like Hoyer lifts or resident’s to assist with heavy lifting or transfers safely
  • Observe and document changes in residents’ conditions, reporting any concerns promptly to healthcare professionals or family members
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to develop and follow personalized care plans that meet each resident’s unique needs
  • Provide emotional support and companionship to foster social engagement and reduce feelings of isolation

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in senior care, assisted living, or home & community care environments; group home experience is a plus
  • Knowledge of patient observation techniques, medication administration, and vital signs monitoring
  • Certifications in CPR, First Aid, HIPAA compliance, and dementia or Alzheimer’s care are highly desirable
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including heavy lifting, assisting with transfers using Hoyer lifts, and long periods of standing or walking
  • Strong communication skills for working effectively with residents, families, healthcare professionals, and team members
  • Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism is beneficial
  • Familiarity with care plans, patient monitoring tools, hospice care principles, and long-term care practices
  • Compassionate attitude combined with a proactive approach to caregiving in home health or nursing home settings
