Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Elderly Caregiver in Willimantic to provide exceptional support and assistance to seniors in various care settings. Duties
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Monitor patient health by checking vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and temperature regularly
- Administer medications accurately following care plans and HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality
- Support residents with memory care needs, including Alzheimer’s and dementia care strategies, ensuring safety and comfort
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to dietary restrictions and assist with feeding as needed
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping tasks such as cleaning, laundry, and organizing personal spaces
- Use specialized equipment like Hoyer lifts or resident’s
to assist with heavy lifting or transfers safely - Observe and document changes in residents’ conditions, reporting any concerns promptly to healthcare professionals or family members
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to develop and follow personalized care plans that meet each resident’s unique needs
- Provide emotional support and companionship to foster social engagement and reduce feelings of isolation
Qualifications
- Proven experience in senior care, assisted living, or home & community care environments; group home experience is a plus
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques, medication administration, and vital signs monitoring
- Certifications in CPR, First Aid, HIPAA compliance, and dementia or Alzheimer’s care are highly desirable
- Ability to perform physical tasks including heavy lifting, assisting with transfers using Hoyer lifts, and long periods of standing or walking
- Strong communication skills for working effectively with residents, families, healthcare professionals, and team members
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism is beneficial
- Familiarity with care plans, patient monitoring tools, hospice care principles, and long-term care practices
- Compassionate attitude combined with a proactive approach to caregiving in home health or nursing home settings
