POSITION SUMMARY
This is a versatile utility role. You will work across die making, machine operation, and assembly, supporting multiple areas of production. The Die Maker / Utility team member is responsible for constructing, assembling, and repairing steel rule cutting dies while also operating production machinery and assembling components to customer specifications and company standards. This role is critical to production accuracy, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Die Making and Tooling
- Fabricate, assemble, and repair steel rule dies, stripping fixtures, and related tooling to customer and internal specifications
- Cut, bend, and notch steel rule using automated and manual tools
- Insert, grind, and secure steel rule into die boards to ensure proper fit, alignment, and cutting tolerance
- Read and interpret CAD drawings, blueprints, and job tickets accurately
- Rubber dies and operate rubbering/blanking/stripping equipment as needed
- Modify existing dies to meet updated specifications and customer revisions
Machine Operation and Assembly
- Operate production machinery and support converting operations across the facility
- Assemble components and tooling to customer specifications
- Inspect materials and finished products for quality and accuracy
- Perform routine preventative maintenance (cleaning, adjustments, minor repairs)
- Use computer-based systems for job tracking, data entry, and time recording (ERP/production systems)
Quality, Safety, and Teamwork
- Verify quality through inspection, measurement, and accuracy checks
- Follow all safety requirements, including PPE and reporting hazards/unsafe conditions
- Communicate with supervisors, CAD, and production to clarify specifications and solve issues quickly
- Support training/mentoring of new team members as assigned
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- 1 to 3 years of experience in die making, machine operation, assembly, or related manufacturing preferred (we will train the right person)
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, CAD drawings, and customer specifications
- Proficiency with manual/automated rule bending equipment and hand tools
- Basic computer skills and comfort using ERP/job tracking systems
- Strong attention to detail, craftsmanship, and ability to work independently
- Willingness to cross-train across departments
- Experience in packaging, printing, or converting environments preferred

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Fast-paced manufacturing environment; PPE required
- Prolonged standing on concrete; frequent bending/stooping; repetitive hand/arm motions using hand tools
- Frequent lifting up to 65 lbs (over 65 lbs with assistance)
