What are the responsibilities and job description for the Commercial Insurance Producer – Church & Ministry position at CTG Insurance?
CTG Insurance is a specialty commercial insurance agency serving faith-based, nonprofit, and human-service organizations across the United States. Churches, ministries, Christian schools, and residential care facilities are our people — we've built the agency around understanding how they operate and how to protect the work they do.
We're independent, which means we place your prospects with the right carrier for the risk — rather than being tied to a single company's appetite. That's a real advantage in a niche market, and it's the platform this role gets to sell from.
What you'll be doing
This is a hunter role. Your job is new business production — and introducing them to an agency where the expertise runs deep, the process is simple, and the relationship actually feels like a partnership. You will not be servicing accounts; our Account Manager team owns everything after the client is onboarded.
You'll be responsible for:
- Working curated prospect lists of churches and religious organizations that CTG has built and maintained — you're starting from a warm pipeline, not a blank phone book
- Running outbound campaigns through Lemlist (our cold-email and cadence platform) and following up on responses
- Managing your deals and pipeline in HubSpot (our CRM and system of record for prospects, deals, and submissions)
- Conducting discovery calls with prospects to understand their operations, exposures, and current coverage
- Preparing and delivering proposals through CTG's proposal tools
- Recommending appropriate coverage and binding risk with the right carrier for each account
- Meeting new business production targets that support your compensation plan and CTG's growth objectives
How the role is structured
CTG separates production from service by design. Here's what that means in practice:
- You produce. Your responsibility is new business — sourcing, quoting, and closing. Your compensation reflects that focus.
- Account Managers service. Once you onboard a client, an AM takes over the day-to-day — endorsements, certificates, policy questions, claims coordination, and renewals. You stay in the relationship, but you're not the operational contact.
This structure exists because the highest-value use of a Risk Advisor's time is prospecting and closing. We resource everything else around that principle.
Tools you'll use
- HubSpot — CRM, pipeline management, deal tracking, prospect data
- Lemlist — outbound email cadences and cold-outreach campaigns
- CTG's curated church and religious-organization prospect lists
- NowCerts — agency management system for policies and client records
- Wunderite — carrier submission workflow
- CTG's proprietary Sales Sidekick and Coverage Desk platforms for prospect intelligence and coverage knowledge
Schedule and location
The agency is open Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. This position is offered as a hybrid role — a mix of in-office and remote work, based out of our Grand Blanc, Michigan office (10751 S. Saginaw Street, Suite A).
Compensation
This role starts with a $50,000 base salary during the first-year ramp, transitioning to a commission-only structure. New business commission rates start at 80% in year one and settle at 70% from year two onward — the rate on new business never goes down. Renewal commission is 30%, plus annual new business bonus tiers. Total first-year compensation typically ranges from $50,000 to $80,000; producers hitting production targets in years two and beyond typically earn $85,000–$120,000 .
Benefits
- Health insurance
- 401(k) retirement plan with a 6% employer match
- Paid time off
- Access to CTG's proprietary sales infrastructure and continuing education in the church and ministry insurance niche
What you'll need
- A Property & Casualty agent's license (or ability to obtain one before start date)
- A valid driver's license with no more than one minor violation in the past three years
- Comfort with technology — HubSpot, email cadence tools, and Microsoft 365 are day-to-day tools in this role
- A hunter's temperament — you're energized by outbound prospecting, discovery, and closing, and you can work a pipeline without someone standing over you
Who thrives here
The producers who do well at CTG are the ones who care about the niche. Churches and ministries have real coverage exposures — abuse and molestation, sexual misconduct, van accidents, roof failures, employment practices, workers' comp on volunteer labor — and helping them understand those exposures is genuinely useful work. If that kind of work sounds interesting, you'll fit.
If you're looking for a role where the agency just hands you a phone list and asks for calls, this isn't the right fit. If you're looking for a role where you get real infrastructure — curated prospects, tech tooling, a support team, and a specialty niche with room to grow — CTG is worth a conversation.
