Job Position Summary
The Construction Teacher provides instruction in construction trades, preparing students with foundational knowledge and hands-on skills in areas such as carpentry, safety, tools, and building systems. The teacher supports students in developing career-ready competencies aligned with industry standards and workforce needs.
Key Responsibilities

Develop and deliver engaging lesson plans in construction and building trades

Teach topics such as:

Basic carpentry

Blueprint reading

Construction safety (OSHA standards)

Hand and power tool usage

Framing, roofing, and finishing techniques

Supervise students in hands-on shop/lab environments

Ensure safe operation of tools, equipment, and workspaces

Integrate academic skills (math, measurement, problem-solving) into instruction

Assess student progress and maintain accurate records

Prepare students for industry certifications (e.g., NCCER if applicable)

Maintain inventory of tools, equipment, and materials

Collaborate with school staff, administration, and local workforce partners

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Industrial Technology, Education, or related field (or equivalent work experience depending on state requirements)

Valid Mississippi teaching license (or ability to obtain CTE certification)

Experience in construction trades (carpentry, general construction, etc.)

Knowledge of OSHA safety standards

Strong classroom management and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
Industry certifications (e.g., NCCER, OSHA 10/30)
