CTE Logistics is looking for a Transportation Broker within our Transportation Department, a dynamic individual that takes pride in their job. Hours: This is a Full-Time position working 40 hours per week. Hours may vary between 7am to 5pm with occasional overtime.
Summary of Position: The Transportation Broker acts as an intermediary to connect businesses (shippers) with companies that transport those goods (carriers), primarily arranging truck movements. Key responsibilities include understanding client shipping needs and investment, negotiating favorable rates with carriers, coordinating logistics for safe and timely delivery, and managing communication between all parties throughout the shipping process. Specialist III ensure that shipments move efficiently and in compliance with regulations, providing a valuable service that saves shippers time and expertise. They leverage their industry networks, problem-solving skills, and market knowledge to find cost-effective transportation solutions, reduce risks for shippers, and help carriers find consistent work. This includes FTL (Full Truckload), Intermodal, and LTL (Less Than Truckload). They will provide tracking and tracing on assigned shipments including pickups, in-transit, and deliveries, while validating there are no oddities. They will book and schedule client confirmed shipments through our TMS (Transportation Management System). The Transportation Specialist III will be proficient in FTL, LTL and working towards specialized proficiencies and Certified Transportation Broker (CTB) preparation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Reciprocity between shippers and carriers: Brokers serve as the primary contact, facilitating communication and understanding the needs of both parties.
- Build and maintain relationships: They develop and foster strong relationships with a network of carriers to ensure a reliable pool of transportation options.
- Client Communication - Answer a high volume of emails and inbound calls from clients regarding freight, routes, and transportation services.
- Schedule services: Accurately enter and process incoming transportation requests, including scheduling pickups and deliveries.
- Problem resolution: Research and resolve client concerns, service failures, and billing issues in a timely and professional manner. Escalate complex issues to the appropriate department for further investigation.
- Data entry: Maintain and update client information, notes, and records accurately in the company's TMS (Transportation Management System or database.
- Team collaboration: Work closely with Sales, and other departments to meet client and operational needs.
- Administrative support: Perform general administrative and clerical duties as needed, including processing paperwork, printing reports, and handling general office tasks.
- Negotiate rates: Negotiate favorable shipping rates with carriers and secure better prices for clients, aiming to generate a "margin" between what the shipper pays and what the carrier accepts.
- Coordinate shipments: Manage the entire shipping process, arranging for the right type of carrier and equipment based on the cargo, distance, and delivery requirements.
- Track and monitor shipments: They provide updates to clients on shipment progress and handle any unexpected issues that may arise during transit.
- Ensure regulatory compliance: Responsible for making sure all shipments comply with relevant federal and company regulations.
Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of Transportation industry experience (FTL /LTL) and/or College degree preferred.
- Experience with Transportation Management Systems (TMS) required.
- Must be computer literate and possess user level skills in MS Office, including Word and Excel.
- Must be proficient in MS Outlook and able to manage 500-600 emails per day.
- Responds positively to challenges and setbacks.

- Applies feedback constructively to improve performance.
- Knowledge and understanding of basic arithmetic, rates and ratios, and unit conversions. (cost per mile, cubic footage, pricing, etc)

Salary Range: $28.00 – 36.00 per hour DOE
