Position Summary
We are seeking a strategic and hands-on Manager of Data Management to lead a high-performing team of 40–50 professionals responsible for the design, operation, and modernization of enterprise data platforms. This role will oversee legacy data stores while driving the transition to modern Data Lake and cloud-based data architectures in partnership with cross-functional project teams. The ideal candidate combines strong leadership skills with deep expertise in data management, governance, and platform transformation initiatives. This role will report to the Director of the Data Tower
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & People Management
•Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 40–50 data engineers, analysts, and data operations professionals
•Establish clear goals, performance metrics, and career development plans
•Drive a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement
•Manage team capacity planning, workload balancing, and hiring strategies
Data Governance & Quality
•Work with Data Tower peers to establish and enforce data governance policies, standards, and frameworks
•Drive improvements in data quality, lineage, cataloging, and master data management
•Ensure compliance with regulatory and security requirements
•Support Data Protection requirements
Operational Excellence
•Develop and define SLAs/SLIs for data availability, latency, and reliability
•Implement monitoring, alerting, and incident response processes
•Optimize cost, performance, and efficiency across data environments
Stakeholder & Program Collaboration
•Work closely with Technology leaders, product teams, and IT to align data strategy with organizational needs
•Act as a key partner in enterprise transformation programs
•Communicate progress, risks, and outcomes to senior leadership
Modern Data Platform Transformation
•Partner with enterprise architecture and engineering teams to design and implement Data Lake / Lakehouse solutions (e.g., Azure Data Lake, AWS S3, Databricks, Snowflake)
•Work with Architect, Project teams and the Data Tower teams on migration of data pipelines from legacy systems to modern platforms
•Define and implement best practices for data ingestion, transformation, streaming, and storage
•Support adoption of scalable, cloud-native data services and tools
Required Qualifications
•8 years of experience in data management, data engineering, or data operations
•5 years of experience leading large teams (20 ; preferably 40 )
•Strong experience with enterprise data platforms (SQL Server, Oracle, Teradata, etc.)
•Hands-on experience with modern data architectures (Data Lake, Lakehouse, cloud platforms)
•Proven track record leading data modernization or migration initiatives
•Strong understanding of ETL/ELT processes, data modeling, and distributed data systems
•Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP)
Preferred Qualifications
•Experience with tools such as Databricks, Snowflake, Azure Synapse, Hadoop ecosystem
•Knowledge of data management tools and MDM (Ab Initio)
•Experience with real-time / streaming technologies (Kafka, Spark Streaming)
•Familiarity with DevOps/DataOps practices
•Industry certifications in cloud or data platforms
