What are the responsibilities and job description for the Commercial Roofer / Roof Mechanic position at CTA Roofing?
Commercial Roofer / Roof Mechanic
What we need
Commercial flat roofs. EPDM, TPO, PVC, and some metal. Tear-offs, recovers, replacements, and new construction on schools, medical buildings, industrial, and public work across Delaware and southeastern Pennsylvania.
We need people who can run a detail, not just carry material. If you can flash a pipe and a curb clean and you know the difference between how you do it in TPO and how you do it in EPDM, we want to talk.
You should have
- 3 years on commercial flat roofs. Shingle-only experience is not what this is.
- Hands on at least one single-ply system, and the willingness to learn the rest. We will teach you the ones
you do not know.
- Metal experience is a plus and we pay for it. Coping, gutter, downspout, fascia, standing seam.
- OSHA 10 minimum, OSHA 30 preferred. If you have neither and you are good, tell us anyway.
- Valid driver's license.
- You can lift heavy material and work outside year round.
- Background check and drug test required.
Pay, straight
- $25 to $34 an hour depending on what you can do on a roof, not on what your resume says.
- Prevailing wage: we regularly run public projects at published state rates, and on those jobs you earn above your normal hourly. Understand it the right way. Your hourly is your hourly. Prevailing wage weeks are upside on top of it, not the number you should be budgeting around.
- 401(k) with a 4% match after 6 months.
- PTO starting at 1 week, plus 6 paid holidays.
- Per diem on the rare out-of-town job. Nearly every project is within a day's drive. You are home every night.
- Health insurance: we do not have a group plan yet. That means you keep whatever marketplace subsidy your household qualifies for, which for a lot of families is worth more than a small employer plan. We would rather tell you now than after you start, and adding coverage is the plan as we grow.
Hours, honestly
Winter and wet months, weather costs us hours and some weeks land under 40. Warm months we push past 40 whenever the work is there and make it back. If you want every week to be exactly 40, roofing in Delaware is not that.
The basics
- 7:00 am start at the shop or on site. Shop starts ride in company vehicles. Site starts you drive yourself.
- Bring your own hand tools and small power tools. We supply large tools, generators, and all safety equipment.
- We tie off. Every time. No exceptions, no arguments.
Where this goes
Roof mechanic, senior mechanic, foreman. Our foremen came up through the crew. We are adding crews, which means the guy who shows up, works safe, and gets good at details has somewhere to go.
