Industrial Maintenance Mechanic — Plastics Processing

CT Polymers
Bourbon, IN Full Time
POSTED ON 10/20/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 2/17/2027

About the Role

At CT Polymers, you’ll be the go-to problem solver who keeps production moving the right way — not the easy way. From the first task on your CMMS to the last handoff note across shifts, you’ll use grit, determination, and solid mechanical instincts to maintain and repair equipment that powers our operation.

A Day in the Life

You start by reviewing preventive maintenance tasks and open work orders in the CMMS. A conveyor shows rising vibration — you inspect bearings and alignment, plan the repair, and document your findings. Later, an extruder gearbox needs attention; you troubleshoot safely, source parts, and bring the line back up. Between calls, you pitch in on an equipment install, help clean and set up for the next run, and leave clear notes for the oncoming team.

What You’ll Do

  • Maintain and repair industrial production assets: extruders, grinders, shredders, conveyors, motors, gearboxes, and related mechanical systems.
  • Execute preventive maintenance and close out accurate work orders via the CMMS.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues efficiently and safely.
  • Assist with equipment installations, upgrades, and light fabrication.
  • Support production with equipment operation, cleaning, and setup.
  • Follow safety procedures, adhere to OEM standards, and keep the workspace organized.
  • Document completed work and communicate clearly across shifts.

Who Thrives Here

  • Self-driven contributors who take ownership and adapt to last-minute, fast-paced changes.
  • Mechanically inclined problem solvers with a strong troubleshooting mindset.
  • People eager to learn, grow, and continuously improve.
  • Team players who can also work independently and stay positive through challenges.
  • Professionals committed to doing things by the book and to OEM specifications.

Skills and Background

  • Industrial or manufacturing mechanical experience (entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply).
  • Basic familiarity with hydraulics and pneumatics.
  • Understanding of bearings, belts, chains, and drive systems.
  • Exposure to extrusion equipment is a plus, not a requirement.
  • Welding and fabrication experience is a plus.
  • Electrical know-how (VFDs, motors, PLC troubleshooting) is a plus — mechanical ability is the priority.

Work Environment & Schedule

  • Lift up to 65 lbs and handle physically demanding tasks.
  • Comfortable around moving equipment, noise, and temperature variation.
  • Climb, work at heights, and operate in tight or confined spaces.
  • Willing to work rotating shifts, weekends, and participate in an on-call rotation.
