Position Summary
The Intake Coordinator supports the overall department by managing the patient referral and admission process for the hospital. Responsibilities
Admissions & Documentation
- Coordinate referrals and admissions for the hospital
- Communicate with hospitals, nursing facilities, and community referral sources regarding potential admissions.
- Verify patient demographics, insurance coverage, and required authorizations.
- Enter and maintain accurate patient information within the hospital system.
- Scan and organize admission documentation.
- Prepare and distribute admission information to appropriate departments.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Communication
- Review referrals with the Director of Psychiatry and clinical staff.
- Notify referral sources of admission decisions.
- Inform nursing units and other departments of incoming admissions.
- Answer questions regarding Behavioral Health services and the admission process.
- Maintain professional communication with patients, families, staff, and referral partners.
Customer Service
- Deliver courteous, responsive service to patients, visitors, and healthcare partners.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.
- Promote a positive admission experience.
