Job Summary

The Department of Economics seeks a part-time lecturer to teach lower- and upper-division economics courses. Applicants should have a Master’s or PhD in Economics from an accredited university at the time of employment. The lecturer will be expected to conduct economics courses and hold office hours in accordance with the University’s office hour policy, and to support the Department’s mission of student-centered learning in a diverse learning environment

TYPICAL ACTIVITIES

Typical activities include teaching economics courses, offering additional learning resources for students in the classes, and holding weekly office hours. Teaching economics courses at the lower- and upper-division level, holding office hours, and responding in a timely fashion to student requests for help.

Qualified candidates must demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring a diverse student population and to working effectively with faculty, staff and students across a wide range of disciplines.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's or Ph.D in Economics from an accredited university at the time of employment.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

The person holding this position is considered a 'mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.

Following a conditional offer of employment, a background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate may start work with CSUSB. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may result in the withdrawal of the offer of employment. Salary is commensurate with experience.

Lecturer A (Range 2) - $5,507 – $6,677

Lecturer B (Range 3) - $6,221 – $13,224

Lecturer C (Range 4) - $6,825 – $14,523

Lecturer D (Range 5) - $8,593 – $15,211

Education Code 89521 Requirements: Applicants will be required to disclose whether they have received a final administrative decision or final judicial decision determining that they have committed sexual harassment within the last 7 years only after a determination is made that they meet the minimum qualifications for the position, and before an offer of employment is extended.
