Key Responsibilities
- Accounting and Financial Reporting:
- Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards (GAAP or other applicable standards).
- Prepare monthly financial data.
- Analyze financial performance and provide insights to leadership.
- Performs all general ledger activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end closing processes.
- Ensure all transactions are accurately recorded in a timely manner.
- Develop and manage annual budgets and forecasts.
- Monitor and report on budget variances and provide recommendations for cost-saving measures or revenue enhancement.
- Including reconciling bank accounts and managing cash balances.
- Oversee and performs the accounts payable and accounts receivable functions to ensure timely and accurate processing of invoices, payments, and collections.
- Coordinate with internal and external parties to resolve any discrepancies.
- Oversee and ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll, including managing payroll taxes and benefits.
- Track and allocate costs to specific projects or jobs (mechanical services, contracts, etc.).
- Ensure accurate job costing and report on project profitability.
- Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial accuracy.
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations and oversee the preparation of tax returns.
- Provide monthly financial reports to senior management, including analysis of key performance indicators (KPIs) and financial trends.
- Assist with financial modeling, cost analysis, and any special reports or financial analysis as required by senior management.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required).
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior accounting role. Experience in the mechanical, construction, or similar industry is a plus.
- Software Experience: Experience with Sage Intacct accounting software (strongly preferred).
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and reporting standards.
- Proficient in accounting software (preferably Sage Intacct) and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.).
- Solid understanding of budgeting, financial analysis, and forecasting.
- Experience with tax filing and compliance.
- Ability to handle sensitive financial information with discretion.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with internal teams and external partners.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
