VICE PRESIDENT OF RESEARCH
The Vice President for Research (VPR) is a senior leadership position responsible for overseeing and advancing the entire research enterprise at the Chan Soon-Shiong Institute of Molecular Medicine at Windber (Windber Research Institute). The VPR will provide strategic vision, leadership, and operational management to foster a vibrant, productive, and ethically sound research environment. This role requires a dynamic leader with a strong scientific background demonstrated by the publications track record, proven administrative capabilities, and a deep understanding of the biomedical research landscape, including funding mechanisms, regulatory compliance, and technology transfer. The VPR will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer/Chief Scientific Officer and work closely with other senior leaders to align research initiatives with the Institute's mission and strategic goals.
Requirements: Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent terminal degree in a relevant biomedical science discipline. Minimum of 10-15 years of progressive leadership experience in biomedical research, with a significant portion in a senior administrative or directorial role within an academic, research institute, or industry setting after a successful research career demonstrated by high-quality publications and track record of securing competitive extramural research funding. Extensive experience in managing complex research programs, budgets, and personnel. Proven ability to foster interdisciplinary collaborations and build strong research teams. Experience with federal awards/funded projects desired.
