Job Overview
Immediate event staffing opportunity for this weekend. We are hiring dependable event staff for the People’s Choice BBQ Cook-Off in Miami/Overtown. Shifts begin Friday, March 27, 2026, so we are interviewing right away and looking for candidates who can commit quickly, communicate well, and work professionally in a live event environment.
This is a great fit for candidates with experience in events, hospitality, festivals, guest services, brand activations, street team work, catering support, venue support, or general event operations.
Candidates hired for this event may be considered for additional future events throughout South Florida, with pay rates that vary depending on the event type and responsibility level.
Parking will be provided for all staff working this event.
Positions/Functions Needed
We are hiring staff to support the following event functions:
Registration / Guest Check-In
- Welcome attendees in a friendly and professional manner
- Check guest registration and assist with entry flow
- Help direct attendees to event areas and answer basic event questions
- Maintain an organized and efficient check-in area
Cook Team Monitor / Competition Support
- Monitor assigned cook team areas throughout the event
- Serve as an on-site point of contact for basic operational needs
- Help communicate timing, event procedures, and staff updates
- Observe activity and report issues to event leadership promptly
- Support a fair, organized, and professional event environment
Event Operations / Run of Show Support
- Assist event leadership with overall event flow
- Help maintain timing and movement between scheduled activities
- Support guest wayfinding, vendor coordination, and issue escalation
- Provide general operational support where needed during live event hours
Setup / Breakdown Crew
- Assist with event setup, placement of materials, signage, tables, and general prep
- Support overnight/early morning operational needs as assigned
- Assist with post-event breakdown, packing, cleanup, and load-out
- Help maintain a safe and orderly work area

- Able to stay calm and helpful in a fast-paced setting
- Event, hospitality, festival, venue, street team, brand ambassador, or guest services experience is a plus
Additional Requirements
- Must be available for one or more listed shifts
- Must arrive on time and ready to work
- Black or dark, clean, professional event attire may be required
- Some positions may require late-night, overnight, or early-morning availability
- Must have a strong work ethic and team attitude
