Distribution Center Manager

We’re seeking an Distribution Center Manager (DCM) to actively conduct inventory control/management and warehouse ops management. Being a master of all things distribution center related, the candidate will be responsible for warehouse operations and inventory control tasks that range from purchasing, receiving, handling, storing to shipping, packaging and transporting products. The ideal DCM candidate must have a comprehensive understanding of distribution center operations conducted for overseeing the day to day tasks of the warehouse and the management of inventory in order to monitor stock correctly and order supplies on schedule. This position will be a physically active role in that, though the DCM will often be required to be at a desk utilizing computers, phones, etc., they will be also be required to be very hands-on with "boots on the ground". They will need to be out in the warehouse, on the floor, actively monitoring, supervising, auditing, counting etc. in order to efficiently and completely fulfill the duties required of them as the distribution center manager.

Objectives of this role:

• Plan and execute an inventory tracking system for supply chain inventories
• Liaise with different suppliers and do a cost analysis to get the best prices and rates
• Document the inventory movements and report them to upper management
• Make sure that the warehouse operates at peak efficiency, keeping in mind quality, accuracy and inventory control
• Recruit, train and manage a team of warehouse staff and ensure and audit the inventory control of the tasks that they perform
• Maintain safety in the warehouse, by adhering to the company safety policies and national regulations according to the legal standards

Some of the DCM's primary tasks will include:

• Monitor the daily warehouse activities and ensure that quality assurance standards are always maintained
• Keep track of daily shipments and deliveries
• Build and foster healthy and long-lasting relationships with the suppliers within the scope of the inventory manager role
• Identify shortages and bottlenecks in the inventory control tasks and resolve the same through continuous improvisations

DCM Job Responsibilities:

• Oversees team of inventory and warehouse employees.
• Manages inventory tracking system to record deliveries, shipments and stock levels.
• Evaluates deliveries, shipments and product levels to improve inventory control procedures.
• Analyzes daily product and supply levels to anticipate inventory problems and shortages.
• Manages schedules of employees, deliveries and shipments to optimize operations.
• Communicates with inventory employees to meet business goals and address personnel issues.
• Develops business relationships with suppliers and clients.
• Proposes strategies to reduce costs and improve procedures of supply chain logistics.
• Monitors demand and analyzes data to anticipate future supply and logistical needs.
• Reports on inventory levels, supply chain progress, procedural efficiency and personnel issues to upper management.
• Manages the recruitment and training of new inventory employees.
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Education/Experience:

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role (Required)
• Experience working with inventory management software and forecasting strategies (Required)
• Experience conducting tracking and data analysis (Required)
• Bachelor’s or associate’s degree in business, logistics, systems engineering, supply chain management or similar (Preferred)
• Product and inventory management certification a plus
