Overview
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Fire Stopping Inspector to support commercial, mission-critical, and high-performance construction projects in Arizona. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical knowledge of firestop systems, applicable code requirements, and inspection procedures related to penetration and joint firestopping assemblies.
This position requires the ability to verify compliance with approved firestop systems, identify deficiencies, document corrective actions, and coordinate with contractors, project teams, and Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs).

Key Responsibilities
- Perform inspections of penetration and joint firestopping systems for compliance with approved construction documents, manufacturer requirements, and applicable codes
- Verify installations comply with UL listed firestop systems and tested assemblies
- Review and interpret applicable sections of the IBC, IFC, ASTM E814, and UL 1479 standards
- Document inspection findings, deficiencies, and corrective actions in detailed reports
- Coordinate with contractors, project managers, and AHJs to resolve non-compliant conditions
- Maintain accurate inspection records and field documentation
- Support project closeout documentation and compliance verification
- Ensure all inspections are performed in accordance with project specifications and jurisdictional requirements .
Minimum Qualifications
- ICC Special Inspector certification(s) or equivalent inspection credentials
- Demonstrated knowledge of International Building Code (IBC) and International Fire Code (IFC)
- Familiarity with UL listed firestop systems and tested assemblies
- Understanding of ASTM E814 / UL 1479 firestop testing standards
- Experience inspecting: Penetration firestopping systems and Joint firestopping systems
- Strong written documentation and reporting skills
- Ability to identify deficiencies and recommend corrective actions
- Submission of certifications, detailed resume, and relevant project experience required
- Ability to demonstrate competency in the firestopping inspection discipline
- Must be eligible for approval by the City of Phoenix Building Official or designated authority

- Hilti Firestop Specialist Training
- Hilti Firestop Inspector Training
- 3M Fire Barrier Training
- STI Firestop Systems Training
Experience supporting the following project types is highly desirable:
- Hyperscale data centers
