Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Assistant Construction Project Manager to support the delivery of a 1.6 million square foot Walmart Distribution Center in Mount Pleasant, Iowa. This role is ideal for a motivated construction professional looking for long-term, permanent employment with opportunities to travel to future project locations upon completion of the initial distribution center.
The Assistant Project Manager will work closely with the Project Manager and project team to help ensure the project is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Project Manager with day-to-day project operations
- Support project scheduling, cost tracking, and budget management
- Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers
- Review submittals, RFIs, change orders, and project documentation
- Participate in progress meetings, site walks, and inspections
- Monitor construction activities for quality, safety, and compliance
- Assist with project reporting and communication to stakeholders
- Help drive project closeout activities and documentation
Qualifications
- 5 years of experience in commercial or industrial construction
- Experience on large-scale projects preferred (distribution centers, warehouses, industrial facilities)
- Strong understanding of construction processes, drawings, and specifications
- Proficiency with construction management software (e.g., Procore, Primavera, MS Project, or similar)
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work on-site in Mount Pleasant, Iowa
- Willingness to travel and relocate to future projects after completion of the initial distribution center
- OSHA 30 preferred
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $120,000 – $150,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications
- Per diem provided for eligible candidates
