JOB SUMMARY

Under the general direction of the Coordinator of Advisement Services, the Advisor is responsible for

providing information and clarification on policies and procedures regarding the Partnership’s tuition

benefits program, as well as educational advisement to CSEA-represented NYS employees. The advisor

assists employees in making educational decisions by collecting personal data, disseminating

information on educational resources, and making appropriate referrals. The advisor also fields calls

and emails and assists in the processing of tuition benefit requests.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Advisement and Program Support:

1. Provides program support and customer service via telephone and e-mail on Tuition Benefits

and other Partnership programs.

2. Helps members better understand their options involving financial aid, field of study, and

program selection related to career goals.

3. Discusses additional training opportunities to expand their resume ranging from certification

exams to micro-credentials to Partnership courses.

4. Conducts intake and follow-up phone sessions with employees signed up for Partnership

courses.

5. Refers callers to state, education, and other programs and services as applicable.

6. Presents webinars and serves as a webinar host.

7. Assists with creating and editing Partnership materials related to Advisement Services.

8. Collaborates on curriculum development projects.

9. Verifies accreditation of education and training providers to ensure tuition benefit program

compliance.

Employee Support:

1. Serves as the initial point of contact for employees utilizing Partnership programs.

2. Maintains accuracy of member data including demographic and outcome notes.

3. Processes Tuition Benefits applications and follows up with members as needed.

4. Identifies trends related to the administration of Partnership programs and assist with

developing strategic solutions for more effective outcomes.

5. Conducts informal surveys and collects information on Partnership programs when needed.

6. Assists employees with troubleshooting problems regarding the utilization of the tuition

benefits program

Other:

1. Works on special projects as needed.

2. Participates in regional outreach meetings to obtain feedback from stakeholders and provide

information on Partnership programs and services

3. Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university preferred.

OR

An associate degree from an accredited college or university and one year of experience working with

adult learners providing educational and/or career advisement, maintaining a caseload, and facilitating

in-person or online presentations

OR

Three years of experience working with adult learners providing educational and/or career

advisement, managing a caseload, and facilitating in-person or online presentations

OR

Three years of experience working within a labor-management training and education environment

OR

A satisfactory equivalent combination of appropriate experience and education as determined by the

NYS & CSEA Partnership for Education and Training

AND

Strong administrative, interpersonal, oral and written communications skills

Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment

Functional knowledge of Microsoft Office tools and basic database software

Ability to work with a diverse population

Salary : $56,655
