What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Tax Accounting position at CSC?
Director of Tax (US)
Wilmington Office and/or Remote with travel
Monday-Friday 7:30 am to 4:30 pm
CSC is a privately held multinational company with offices in 30 countries.
This is a builder’s role, not a care taker’s, with responsibility for the US team, managing all aspects of US tax, reporting to Global Senior Director of tax with a focus on risk, value add, accounting and compliance. You’ll partner with business unit leaders, shared services, and international tax teams to deliver commercially-minded solutions — while shaping the team, technology, and processes that will scale with us.
If you’re energized by the chance to design rather than maintain — and you want your work to influence how a global business operates — we’d like to talk.
What you’ll own:
Set US tax strategy. Identify planning opportunities across US and international operations, manage risk, and align structure to best practice.
Build, mentor, and scale a team of circa 10 in US, driving continuous improvement, professional development, and alignment with CSC core values.
Own end-to-end US tax compliance — Federal, State, Sales & Use, and international filings (Forms 8858, 5471, CBCR, GILTI, Subpart F) plus 987/988 gain/loss calculations.
Lead US tax accounting, forecasting, and budgeting — including provisioning, KPIs, footnote disclosures, and deferred tax computations.
Review quarterly S Corp shareholder distribution calculations and support shareholder relations.
Provide strategic direction, technical guidance, and leadership to the US tax team as we implement a new operating model.
Manage relationships with external tax advisors and align internal and external resources. Looking to bring in-house more work where appropriate
Collaborate with global business units, shared services, and international tax teams.
Partner with the Director of Tax Technology to invest in systems that scale with growing tax demands.
Lead audits and inquiries across direct and indirect tax.
Work closely with senior managers across US direct and indirect tax to ensure compliance, planning, and technical decisions land on time.
Advise senior leadership on the impact of new and proposed tax legislation and prepare the business for what’s coming.
Year one, you’ll:
Stand up the post-acquisition US tax operating model — calendar, controls, reporting and roles.
Deliver a clean full-year provision and footnote under the new structure.
Build the playbook for S Corp shareholder distributions and reporting.
Partner with Tax Technology to scope and begin in-sourcing key compliance workstreams from external advisors.
Establish the internal relationships (BU finance, shared services, international tax) and external (advisors, auditors) — that the function will run on.
What you will bring:
Deep U.S. technical knowledge of corporate income tax and indirect tax for both C-Corps and S-Corps, paired with the drive to build.
10-15 years U.S. tax experience across industry and public accounting.
Bachelor's in accounting or (equivalent); CPA and master's a plus
Track record building and leading teams across global locations and designing processes that bring more work in-house from third parties.
Hands on experience with EPM/Hyperion, Corptax, and Oracle/ SAP (or other major ERP platforms).
Working knowledge of data analytics and tax automation/RPA tools.
Strong accounting and analytical skills, detail-oriented and able to manage competing priorities.
Able to explain complex tax matters clearly to non-tax stakeholders and influence decisions at the senior leadership level.
Able to travel to our Wilmington, DE headquarters on a quarterly basis or as business needs dictate
This role is not eligible for employment visa sponsorship (e.g., H‑1B, TN, E‑3) now or in the future.
