Role Description The Blade Operator is a full-time, on-site role located in Phoenix, AZ. This position is responsible for operating motor graders and related heavy equipment to perform grading, leveling, and earthwork on residential and commercial construction sites. Day-to-day tasks include reading and interpreting plans and grades, setting up equipment for optimal performance, GPS knowledge and working with site supervisors to achieve required specifications and tolerances. The Blade Operator will perform routine equipment inspections, basic maintenance, and safety checks, and will report any issues promptly. The role also involves working collaboratively with crew members, maintaining a clean and safe job site, and adhering to all company and regulatory safety standards.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated proficiency operating motor graders and related heavy equipment, with the ability to perform fine grading and earthwork to specification.
- Experience reading and interpreting construction plans, grade stakes, and elevations, and applying them accurately in the field.
- Strong knowledge of construction site safety practices, including OSHA guidelines, and commitment to safe work habits.
- Ability to perform basic equipment inspections, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting to keep machinery in reliable working condition.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to follow instructions from supervisors and coordinate with other crew members.
- Prior experience in grading, paving, or civil construction environments; underground utilities or concrete work experience is a plus.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to Phoenix-area job sites; eligibility to work in the United States.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred; relevant vocational training or certifications in heavy equipment operation are beneficial.
