General Purpose:

This position is a tier below the NDT Inspector II. The position will complete all NDT inspections required in the long seam area. This position will also assist the inspection process in the circular welding area as needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a safe, clean and orderly work environment by following all safety protocols and performing routine housekeeping and workplace organization.
  • Perform NDT inspections in the long seam area.
  • Create NCRs as needed.
  • Perform photogrammetry as needed.
  • Perform activities of position as outlined in Production Inspection Instructions.
  • Perform product quality inspections and make corrections as required.
  • Operate material handling equipment, overhead crane and rigging, to fit-up and relocate tower section components.
  • Perform daily maintenance inspections on equipment and correct minor issues.
  • Coordinate with Group Leaders and other production employees to prioritize products to process.
  • Work with assigned welding group to complete tasks as a team.
  • Communicate quality and safety concerns with NDT Group Leader.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Essential Functions:

  • Standing and or walking for periods up to 3 hours.
  • Constant movement and motion that includes working both overhead, below waist and side to side
  • Ability to grip and manually manipulate, often with repetitive motion, items such as hand tools.
  • Occasional heavy lifting of up to 40 pounds from floor to shoulder height.
  • Use of hand tools weighing up to 15 pounds.
  • Kneeling required up to 30% of work time
  • Ability to see and hear

Education, Training, and Skills Required:

  • High school diploma/GED
  • Able to speak, read and understand English.
  • Documented training and experience hours signed by a NDT Level III in the following Non-Destructive
  • Testing Methods: VT – Visual Testing, MT - Magnetic Particle Testing, and UT – Ultrasonic Testing.
  • Minimum training/experience hours must meet or exceed the ASNT SNT-TC-1A requirements in the following methods/ levels: o VT – Level II: (24 training hours / 210 minimum hours in method) o MT – Level II: (20 training hours / 280 minimum hours in method) o UT–Level II:(80 training hours / 840 minimum hours in method)
  • Employment conditional upon passing the inspection skills assessment: General Examination, Practical
  • Examination, and Specific Examination.

PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Hard skills o Background as blacksmith, electrician, quality technician or the likewise.
  • Knowledge of AWS D1.1 and European Standards.
  • Previous UT testing on steel plates and weldments.
  • 1 years’ experience within quality inspection.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Clarity of communication skills, dynamic, flexible and the ability to work in an environment of change.
  • Comfortable working on the production floor. o Ability to understand technical information and data. Soft skills o Strong interpersonal skills to communicate CSWIND requirements.
  • Service minded personality and open for cooperation.
  • Proactive and enthusiastic with good attention to detail and a willingness to take ownership.

Employees are responsible to perform duties related to generating and storing hazardous waste in satellite accumulation areas. Must remain within regulatory and internal compliance when using, handling or segregating hazardous materials and waste.
