General Purpose:

The Safety Technician plays a critical role in driving safe behaviors on the production floor, supporting supervisors, and ensuring that safety controls are consistently implemented.

Job Summary:

The Safety Technician is responsible for supporting and enforcing workplace safety programs within CS Wind America. This role is focused on filed-level safety execution, including inspections, hazard identification, employee engagement, and ensuring compliance with OSHA and company safety requirements.

Responsibilities:

Conduct daily and routine safety patrols to identify hazards and unsafe behaviors

  • Verify compliance with OSHA standards and internal safety policies
  • Ensure required pre-use inspections (e.g. PITs, cranes, lifts) are being completed
  • Monitor high-risk work activities (e.g. hot work, confined space, lifting operations)
  • Identify unsafe conditions and behaviors and ensure timely corrective actions
  • Track and follow up on safety findings until closure
  • Support implementation of corrective actions from adults, incidents, and inspections
  • Conduct toolbox talks and safety briefings
  • Reinforce safety expectations with employees and supervisors
  • Assist with onboarding safety orientation for new employees
  • Support JHA development and field-level execution
  • Respond to incidents and near misses
  • Assist with incident investigations and root cause analysis
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting of incidents
  • Support workers’ compensation documentation and follow-up
  • Assist in implementation of safety programs (LOTO, fall protection, confined space, respiratory protection, etc.)
  • Support safety audits and inspections
  • Maintain safety documentation and records as required
  • Observe work practices for compliance with safety requirements
  • Identify areas where engineering or administrative controls may be needed
  • Support EHS in evaluating workplace hazards and exposures

Education, Training, and Skills Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Associate degree or safety-related training preferred
  • 1-3 years of experience in manufacturing, construction, or safety-related role preferred
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 preferred (or willing to obtain)
  • Experience in heavy manufacturing, fabrication, or industrial environment preferred
  • Working knowledge of OSHA safety standards
  • Ability to recognize hazards in an industrial/manufacturing environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to influence safe behaviors on the production floor
  • Attention to detail and strong follow-through
  • Basic computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, reporting systems)

  • *Standing and or walking for periods of up to 3 hours.
  • *Rotation of tasks/positions required requiring standing, walking, and some sitting.

Employees are responsible to perform duties related to generating and storing hazardous waste in satellite accumulation areas. Must remain within regulatory and internal compliance when using, handling or segregating hazardous materials and waste.
