Key Responsibilities
Essential Duties:
- Conduct assessments to identify students’ reading abilities and specific areas of need.
- Develop and implement targeted reading interventions for individuals and small groups based on students' needs.
- Utilize evidence-based practices and interventions to enhance reading skills, including phonics, comprehension, vocabulary, and fluency.
- Regularly monitor and document student progress through ongoing assessments and data analysis.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate reading strategies across the curriculum and participate in ongoing professional development initiatives.
- Participate in school activities, meetings, and events to contribute to the overall mission of the institution.
- Maintain a safe and positive environment for all students
- Maintain effective communication with students, parents, and school staff
- Regular and predictable attendance
- Supervision of multiple students at once
- Establishing routines and procedures
- Maintaining a safe and orderly environment
- Create and implement instructional plans
- Participate in continuous professional development
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Occasionally lift/move objects weighing up to 25lbs
- Stand and walk frequently
- Occasionally sit on the floor or bend down/squat
- Withstand all demands presented by outside weather conditions at any time of the year
- Withstand a moderate noise level
- Be able to perform first aid/CPR if necessary
- Assist/lift students, as necessary
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Reading, Literacy, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Valid teaching certification and/or specialized reading endorsement.
- Previous experience as a reading interventionist, literacy coach, or in a related role in K-12 education is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of reading development, intervention strategies, and assessment tools.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
