Position Overview
The Seasonal Operations Manager (SOM) oversees the daily operations of Crystal Park's recreational facilities during the summer season. This role ensures a safe, enjoyable, and well-maintained environment for members and guests by managing staff, scheduling, enforcing safety protocols, and coordinating maintenance. The SOM will work on-site, with a minimum of 30-40 hours per week at the lake during operational hours, including weekends and holidays.
Key Responsibilities
Staffing & Supervision
- Hire, train, and supervise lifeguards, gate attendants, and seasonal staff.
- Create and manage staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage.
- Conduct staff evaluations (formal at least once per season; informal monthly check-ins).
- Lead weekly in-service training, emphasizing safety, preparedness, and emergency response.
Operations Management
- Oversee daily opening and closing of the beach and facilities.
- Ensure that at least one responsible adult (18 ) is on-site during all operating hours.
- Manage gate operations, including membership verification, guest passes, fishing keys and cash handling.
- Manage and maintain documentation logs which include but are not limited to: staff training logs, member/guest sign in logs, member/guest waiver logs, fishing/court key logs and pavilion/table rentals.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with Crystal Park's handbook and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Submit weekly recap/reports to the Executive Committee (staffing, hours, safety, maintenance, and requests).
Safety & Member Experience
- Provide for the safety of all guests by addressing hazards promptly.
- Coordinate swim testing and qualification processes for members and guests.
- Support special events in partnership with the Beach Committee.
- Promote a welcoming and family-friendly environment.
Facility & Maintenance Coordination
- Assist with preseason setup and postseason closing tasks.
- Coordinate with grounds and facilities committees to maintain the beach, pavilion, boats, and recreational areas.
- Monitor equipment, supplies, and facility conditions, reporting issues to the Board or committees as needed.
- General daily facility maintenance.
Qualifications
- Experience in staff supervision and facility operations required.
- Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
- Knowledge of water safety practices and lifeguard management.
- Past/current lifeguard or water safety certification preferred or certification obtained prior to the season starting.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Ohio boater safety course
- First Aid certification

Compensation
- Hourly Position
- Minimum starting hourly wage $20/ hour –Pay rate based on qualifications and determined annually by the Board of Directors.
- 30-40 hours/week during peak season. Additional hours are possible.
