Crystal Lake Elementary District 47 has an opening for an Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment. The Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment oversees the creation, development, implementation, and revision of all PreK-8 curriculum, local and State assessments; creates a PreK-8 learning environment that includes a guaranteed and viable curriculum and instructional pedagogy sufficient to ensure high school readiness; supervises and evaluates the delivery of instruction in alignment with D47's Strategic goals, District policies, and procedures for the purpose of advancing student outcomes PreK-8 grade.

- Supervise the Directors of Literacy and Social Studies, Math, Science, and STEM, and Multilingual Programming
- Oversees and sets the vision for the district instructional coaches
- Oversees and supervises the development and support for encore curricula, gifted and talented curricula, and the band program
- Oversee and implement the new teacher induction and mentoring program
- Ensures the delivery of professional development programs, in-service workshops, and training for all instructional personnel that align with and support the District's curriculum in all core and encore subject areas
- Collaborate with building administrators and staff in organizing and coordinating grade-level and departmental meetings to ensure horizontal and vertical continuity
- Oversee the budget preparation for newly approved instructional programs as related to instructional supplies, equipment, and materials
- Develop an annual budget, staff development plan, and summer work plan that aligns with District goals and the curriculum review cycle
- Serves as the District's State Assessment Coordinator. Coordinates material ordering, distribution, collection, and return to the state, as well as serves as the facilitator of training necessary for annual assessment administration
- Facilitates and serves as the primary point of contact for the District-wide local assessment programs, inclusive of universal screening.
- Collaborates with the administrative team to review and evaluate the results of the District-wide assessment program and other evaluation measures used by the schools as part of evaluating the district curricula
- Collaborates with the Director of Strategic Systems and Continuous Improvement on the creation and ongoing effective functioning of the District's Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework, inclusive of supporting all staff in properly using and incorporating a balanced assessment model in their instructional practices
- Study, evaluate, and, as appropriate, recommend adoption of new instructional materials, methods, strategies, and programs from PreK to 8th grade that align with appropriate subject-area learning standards
- Ensure that the instructional programs engage and meet the needs of all learners by providing a variety of methods for the students to demonstrate knowledge and accomplishments
- Collaborates with the Assistant Superintendent of Student Services to ensure that instructional delivery enables students with special needs to progress through the district-approved curricula
- Provide current trend information, research news, and other relevant data to the administrative team and staff as appropriate to the improvement of teaching and learning
- Keeps abreast of developments in curriculum, instruction, and assessment, and collaborates with district and building leadership in order to improve teaching and learning, PreK-8th grade
- Facilitate and oversee the creation and ongoing revisions of publications for all curriculum guides and materials distributed to instructional staff
- Attend Board meetings to provide support, information, and presentations, as needed
- Communicate the curriculum, instruction and assessment objectives, philosophy, and programming to the Board, as well as the administration, staff, and community
- Review and implement all Board policies, regulations, and administrative procedures, making recommendations for changes and updates based on best practices and the law
- Prepare and present aggregated and disaggregated data reports for a variety of stakeholders as it relates to the development, implementation, and evaluation of all curriculum and instructional services at all grades and for all levels of students
- Assists with the evaluation of administrators, licensed and non-licensed personnel, as needed
- Maintain a list of all approved instructional materials
- Responsible for completing, compiling, maintaining, and filing all reports, records, and documents as legally required and administratively useful in this area
- Perform other duties that may be assigned by the Superintendent
- State of Illinois Professional Educator License
- General Administrative endorsement
- Principal evaluator designation preferred
- Teacher evaluator designation preferred
- A Masters or Doctoral degree in Curriculum & Instruction and/or Educational Leadership
- Five or more years of demonstrated successful experience working within the PreK - 8th grade environment
