- The Wire Harness Technician plays a vital role in the assembly and installation of wiring systems that are essential for the functionality of various electronic products.
- This position is crucial for ensuring the reliability and safety of electrical connections in numerous applications, including automotive, aerospace, and industrial equipment
- A Wire Harness Technician supports the team by providing high-quality workmanship, attention to detail, and efficient processes, contributing significantly to the overall success of our production goals.
- Wire Harness Technician ensures that our products are built to the highest standards, ultimately supporting the team in achieving operational excellence and customer satisfaction.
- Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Assemble wire harnesses according to detailed specifications and blueprints, ensuring that all components are correctly installed and secured.
- Perform quality control checks throughout the assembly process to maintain high standards and prevent defects.
- Work closely with engineering and production teams to communicate any issues, provide feedback on processes, and support continuous improvement initiatives, fostering a collaborative environment to enhance productivity.
- Scope and Complexity
- Work closely with team members to troubleshoot issues and implement efficient production techniques.
- Participate in team meetings to discuss progress, share insights, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Provide timely feedback and insights to address any challenges faced during production and recommend solutions.
- Tools, Technology, or Equipment Used:
- Crimping Tools: Used to attach connectors to the ends of wires securely. These tools ensure a strong electrical connection and are essential for assembly.
- Wire Strippers: Essential for removing the insulation from wire ends without damaging the metal conductor. These tools come in various types, including manual and automatic.
- Soldering Irons: Utilized for soldering connections, ensuring a reliable and permanent bond between wire ends and connectors when crimping is not suitable.
- Multimeter: A critical tool for measuring voltage, current, and resistance in wire harnesses. It’s used to test electrical circuits and ensure that connections are functioning correctly. Specialized equipment is designed to test wire harnesses for electrical continuity and performance before they are integrated into products. Cirris’s equipment is designed to test wire harnesses for electrical continuity and performance before they are integrated into products.
- Cable Bundling materials: Used to insulate and protect wire connections. Heat guns may also be used to shrink the tubbing around the connections securely. Includes cable ties, clips, and spiral wraps that help organize and secure the wires within the harness, preventing tangles and wear.

- Education requirements (Bachelor’s degree, GED/High School Diploma, Associate’s, etc)
- In lieu of degree requirement (Ex. associate's degree in mechanical design, or 3 years of demonstrated CAD work in lieu of degree)
- IPC certification
- Education preferred (maybe High School is required, but you’d prefer Associate’s degree)
