- Organize, implement and direct scheduled activities of a recreational, physical, educational, social and spiritual nature for residents both in groups and for individuals.
- Ensure participation of all residents and that activities offered can be applied to various levels of functioning according to recorded resident assessments.
- Perform room visitations and activities as required by schedule and / or observed resident need.
- Keep clear and concise documentation on logs and in resident charts of resident participation in activities as required by state regulations and facility policy.
- Monitor and supervise residents at all times during activities to ensure resident safety.
- Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout the unit and shift.
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- At least 6 months of experience in organizing and facilitating group or individual activities in a skilled nursing facility or with the geriatric population preferred
- Knowledge or experience working with residents with dementia is a plus
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
