What are the responsibilities and job description for the CDL A Driver Operator position at Crystal Clean?
CDL A Driver 1 is an entry-level commercial driver reporting to the Operations Manager and Dispatch. Primary tasks include safely driving to customer locations and disposal facilities to pick up or deliver industrial waste. CDL A Driver 1 is proficient at transportation of dry vans and flat bed trailers.
Minimum Required Certifications/Licenses
Class A commercial driver license
Hazardous materials endorsement
8-Hour RCRA/DOT training (annual)
Medical Surveillance
Pre-hire drug screening
DOT physical
Maintain DOT medical clearance
Reasonable suspicion and post-accident drug and alcohol as permitted by law
Minimum Education, Skills, Experience
Minimum experience of 2 years commercial driving
Ability to safely drive a tractor-trailer with dry van or flatbed trailer of 28’ - 53’ in length
Experience in drop/hook and trailer swaps
Completion of pre and post trip vehicle inspections and routine load checks
Accurate completion of driver logs (paper and ELD) and fuel reports (IFTA)
Knowledge to properly complete a uniform hazardous waste manifest and other required transportation documents (i.e. BOL, non-haz manifest, etc.)
Working knowledge of applicable vehicle codes pertaining to operation of a commercial vehicle carrying hazardous waste in Arizona, California, and surrounding states
Interact with customers, vendors, and other employees in a professional manner
Compensation Range
Day Rates are set on route/destination and complexity of work
Hourly rates start at $21.00 per hour
