Position Overview

We are looking for a Compliance Specialist to join our team in Kings Mountain, NC. This role provides hands-on support to the development efforts for a wide variety of Crypton and Nanotex products. End-uses include high-performance upholstery, apparel, bedding, vinyl and leather. We are looking for an enthusiastic person with a willingness to grow and learn. Job Description

Essential Job Functions                                                                              

1.      The role of a Compliance Officer in a textile mill requires strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills, as well as knowledge of industry regulations and standards

2.      Worker Safety & Health (OSHA/HSE):

a.      Regularly reviewing and evaluating the mill's operations, processes, and products to identify potential compliance issues or risks and implementing measures to mitigate them.

b.      Audit chemical mixing and dosing areas for safe handling and spill control.

c.      Ensure compliance with air emission standards (e.g., from stenters, boilers, and dryers).

3.    Supplier Compliance/Chemical Management

a.      Evaluating and monitoring suppliers' compliance with quality standards and regulations. Confirm all finishing recipes and operations comply with buyer or brand Restricted Substance Lists (RSLs).

b.      Monitoring and restricting the use of hazardous substances, dyes, and finishing chemicals in products and processes to comply with global regulations and industry initiatives

c.      Oversee chemical inventory control, MSDS documentation, and safe handling protocols.

4.    Environmental Compliance

a.      Ensuring proper disposal, recycling, and reduction of wastewater, solid waste, and air emissions.

b.      Managing and ensuring adherence to environmental permits for water discharge, air emissions, and waste handling.

c.      Maintain compliance records: permits, wastewater test results, air monitoring data, and waste manifests.

5.    Finished Product Compliance

a.      Ensuring all finished textile goods comply with mandatory safety standards, such as flammability regulations and restrictions on heavy metals or banned chemicals.

b.      Coordinating and documenting product testing to verify compliance with quality and safety specifications.

General Compliance Duties

a.      Monitor and ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations related to:

          i.     Occupational health and safety (OSHA or equivalent)

         ii.     Environmental standards (EPA, water discharge, air emissions, waste disposal)

        iii.     Textile-specific standards (e.g., REACH, Oeko-Tex, ZDHC, GOTS)

        iv.     Maintain permits, licenses, and certifications and ensure renewals are completed on time.

Required Qualifications and Skills

·      Minimum Requirements: 5 years’ work experience in chemical or textile processing

·      A proven work history of innovation and product development.

·      Must be detail oriented.

·      Must be able to multitask.

·      Has a good understanding of organic chemistry, ideally also polymer chemistry.

·      Good organization skills.

·      Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.

·      Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment:

·      Frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and occasionally required to team lift and/or move more than 40 pounds.

·      While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to work within humid conditions, near moving mechanical parts, and with fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
