Role Description
Cruz Construction is looking for a Marine Engineer to join our tug operating crew operating across Alaskan waters. You will be living and working aboard. Turning wrenches, standing watch, working deck and doing whatever it takes to keep the vessel moving and the mission on track. Small crew. Big state. Real work.
If you can diagnose an engine problem at 0200, help land a barge in 20 knot winds, and maybe throw together a decent meal for the crew by dinner, you might be exactly who were looking for.
What this looks like day to day.
- Maintaining and repairing diesel enginee, generators, compressors, and all associated marine systems
.
- Monitoring equipment, keeping logs, and staying ahead of problems before they become emergencies.
- Working deck as needed
. Lines, anchors, cargo, all of it.
- Operating in remote Alaskan locations where self sufficiency isn’t optional.
- Being a reliable, adaptable member if a small, tight knit crew
.
Qualifications
- Experience in Maritime and Marine Engineering, with a solid understanding of marine systems and equipment
- Knowledge of Maintenance & Repair processes, focusing on troubleshooting and maintaining marine machinery
- Background in the Navy or Marine Industry is preferred
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, and technical skills
- Familiarity with safety and environmental regulations related to marine operations
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering or a related field is highly desirable
- Relevant certifications or licenses, such as U.S. Coast Guard credentials, are a plus
