Role Description
We are seeking a Veterinary CPA Advisor who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys solving complex problems, and takes ownership of client outcomes. This role blends technical accounting, tax oversight, and advisory, while leading a small team and ensuring projects are completed with excellence.
Experience with advisory services in a professional setting is an asset.
Key Responsibilities
Client Advisory & Relationship Management
- Serve as the primary advisor for a portfolio of veterinary clients
- Lead client meetings via Zoom and phone to review financials, performance, and strategy
- Provide proactive recommendations on cash flow, profitability, and growth decisions
- Translate financial data into clear, actionable insights for business owners
Accounting Oversight
- Review monthly financials for accuracy, completeness, and timeliness
- Ensure proper classification, reconciliations, and adherence to firm standards
- Guide bookkeepers on complex transactions, adjustments, and clean-up work
- Identify trends, risks, and opportunities within client financials
Tax Planning & Preparation Oversight
- Oversee tax preparation for S-Corps, Partnerships, and C-Corps
- Review tax returns for accuracy and compliance
- Develop and deliver proactive tax strategies to minimize client liabilities
- Coordinate with tax preparers to ensure deadlines and quality standards are met
Team Leadership & Project Management
- Manage and mentor bookkeepers and tax preparers assigned to your clients
- Ensure all projects are completed on time, within scope, and at a high standard
- Monitor workflow, identify bottlenecks, and proactively solve issues
- Maintain accountability across the team for deliverables and communication
Operational Excellence
- Ensure all client work is organized, documented, and aligned with firm SOPs
- Communicate clearly and consistently with both clients and internal team members
- Proactively identify inefficiencies and recommend process improvements
Qualifications
- Active CPA license (required)
- 4–5 years of experience in public accounting or advisory
- Strong experience with:
- QuickBooks Online
- Tax preparation and review (S-Corps, Partnerships, C-Corps)
- Experience advising clients via Zoom, phone, or virtual platforms
- Proven ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines simultaneously
