Position Overview
The Barback plays a key operational role in supporting bartenders and maintaining an efficient, clean, and well-stocked bar environment. This position ensures bartenders have everything needed to serve guests quickly and professionally while also contributing to overall bar cleanliness, inventory control, and guest satisfaction. The ideal candidate is fast-paced, organized, reliable, and able to work well in a high-volume lounge or nightlife setting.
Primary Responsibilities
- Stock and refill all bar products including liquor, beer, wine, mixers, juices, garnishes, glassware, ice, and bar tools.
- Maintain cleanliness of bar area, including counters, shelves, sinks, floors, coolers, and storage.
- Change kegs as needed and ensure proper labeling and rotation of inventory.
- Assist bartenders with preparing garnishes or basic drink components.
- Collect, wash, and restock glassware throughout the shift.
- Remove trash frequently to maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Break down and clean bar equipment at closing and assist with opening setup when scheduled.
- Transport inventory from storage to the bar as requested.
- Restock napkins, straws, stirrers, coasters, and other bar essentials.
- Assist with bar deliveries and verify stock quantities.
- Support bartenders during busy periods by clearing empty glassware and responding to supply needs immediately.
- Maintain a positive, energetic, and professional attitude with staff and guests.
Skills & Qualifications
- Previous barback or hospitality experience preferred but not required.
- Ability to lift 30–50 lbs and move quickly in fast-paced environments.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and time-management skills.
- Must be punctual, dependable, and self-motivated.
- Knowledge of spirits, beer, wine, and bar tools (or willingness to learn).
- Must be 21 depending on local alcohol regulations.
Work Environment
- Late nights, weekends, and holiday availability may be required.
- Fast-paced, high-volume setting with constant movement and physical activity.
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
