What are the responsibilities and job description for the Security Systems Technician position at CRS Building Automation Systems?
The Role
We’re looking for a security and access control technician to install, program, test, and service security, access control, and CCTV systems on job sites across the Charlotte and Triad region. You’ll work both new construction installs and existing system service calls, working from drawings and specs, and making sure every system is fully functional and ready for customer handoff.
What You’ll Do
- Install, wire, and program access control panels, card readers, electric locks, and door hardware integrations
- Install, aim, configure, and commission IP cameras, NVRs/VMS platforms, and network video infrastructure
- Perform testing, inspections, and preventive maintenance on security, access control, and CCTV systems
- Troubleshoot and repair system faults in the field, on both new installs and existing customer systems
- Read and work from riser diagrams, shop drawings, and system specifications
- Complete required documentation: service tickets, test and commissioning reports, and as-builts
- Coordinate with general contractors, electricians, and customers during installation, testing, and final handoff
- Support both new construction projects and service/retrofit work on existing systems
What We’re Looking For
- Hands-on experience installing and/or servicing access control, CCTV, or intrusion systems
- Working knowledge of IP networking basics, including IP addressing, PoE, switches, and VLANs
- NC licensed low voltage/alarm systems technician, or eligibility to obtain licensure
- Familiarity with common access control and video platforms is a plus
- Comfortable reading electrical and system drawings
- Comfortable working at heights, in ceilings, mechanical rooms, and other field conditions
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Strong troubleshooting skills and attention to detail
$100,000 per year commensurate with experience
