Job Overview

The Night Cleaner is responsible for maintaining cleanliness, safety, and overall appearance of the hotel’s public areas during overnight hours. This role ensures that all public floors, service area floors and restaurant furnishings are thoroughly cleaned and well-maintained to meet hotel standards and provide a welcoming environment for guests and staff.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain floors in common areas of hotel including (lobby areas, fitness center, pool, public restrooms, restaurant, kitchen, backhall service areas).
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, and polish floors to ensure a clean and presentable appearance.
• Perform weekly cleaning of restaurant furnishings, including tables, chairs, windows, mirrors, and glass.
• Perform spot cleaning of stains on carpet in public space areas as needed.
• Operate and maintain floor care equipment such as floor buffers and scrubbers.
• Work as part of a team and communicate with other departments to ensure excellent quality and service.
• Engage with guests and fellow associates using D.A.R.E. to Connect behaviours.
• Handle and store chemicals according to hotel regulations and local legislative requirements.
• Immediately report any health and safety incident, security breaches, or suspicious behavior to the supervisor.
• Assist with deep cleaning projects as needed
• May assist with other duties as assigned.
  
  

Specific Job Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

• Knowledge and understanding of cleaning methodologies, including safe chemical usage and proper floor equipment handling.
• Ability to communicate occasionally with guests or colleagues.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to complete tasks within the scheduled timeframe.
• Ability to engage with guests and fellow associates using D.A.R.E. to Connect behaviors.
• Familiarity with health and safety regulations and proper reporting procedures for incidents or suspicious behavior.
• Adaptability to changing schedules and priorities, responding to the needs of the hotel and guests.
• Basic maintenance knowledge and understanding of when to report issues to management.

Physical Demands

• Ability to frequently detect dirt, grime, and stains, and distinguish colors and details for cleanliness and safety.
• Capability to move and operate floor cleaning equipment.
• Extensive mobility required for up to 8 hours at a time.
• Requires repetitive hand movements, climbing ladders, and lifting/carrying up to 50lbs weights.
• Must transport up to 50 pounds regularly and maneuver carts/equipment weighing up to 250 pounds occasionally.
• Ability to work continuously while standing, walking, or bending for extended periods.
• Capability to maintain balance while using ladders or handling equipment.
• Ability to hear and respond to alarms or signals in the workplace.
  
  

Requirements

A high school or equivalent education is preferred. Previous floor cleaning experience preferred.

Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, associates may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel. In addition, attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings are required.

Upon employment, all associates are required to fully comply with Crowne Plaza Lansing rules and regulations for the safe and effective operations of the Hotel’s facilities. Associates who violate Hotel rules and regulations will be subjects to disciplinary action, up to and including, separation.
