Housekeeper/ Room Attendant

Position Summary

To clean and stock guest rooms to ensure the company’s high standards of cleanliness.

Example of Duties

Essential Functions

1. Clean bathtub, toilet, sink, walls, mirrors, tiles, counters, windows and floor surfaces using cloths, mops, sponges, brushes, and/or cleaning agents by extending arms over head, bending and stooping.

2. Strip and make beds, changing bed linens which may require lifting bedspreads weighing a maximum of 40 pounds.

3. Dust all furniture, pictures, window ledges, and shelves thoroughly. Check under bed to remove trash or other debris. Maintain cleanliness of public space, i.e.: lobby, public restrooms, offices, elevators and stairways as assigned.

4. Push and pull vacuum throughout entire room and empty trash.

5. Replenish amenities, linens, and supplies in guest rooms.

6. Sign for keys, retrieve, push cart weighing up to 150 pounds. Visually inspect rooms for cleanliness and appearance and signify completion of room. Must report all repairs or maintenance problems to supervisor.

7. Greet guests in hallways or in passing, ask if they are enjoying their stay.

Supportive Functions

In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions.

· Respond in a timely manner to guest’s requests for items such as an iron, safety instructions, assistance, direction, and/or other information as requested.

· Report all suspicious persons, activities or hazardous and unsafe conditions to a supervisor or manager.

· Turn in all items found in employee’s working area to the property Lost and Found Department.

· Other duties as assigned by the supervisor such as cleaning rooms, assisting Room Attendants or cross training when necessary.

Physical Requirements

· Frequently stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, twist, and stretch while performing cleaning duties.

· Regularly push, pull, and maneuver loaded housekeeping carts and equipment throughout the property.

· Frequently lift, carry, and move supplies weighing up to 50 pounds; occasional lifting of heavier items with assistance or appropriate equipment.

· Work in confined spaces and use cleaning equipment and chemicals safely.

· Ability to scrub and scour surfaces, extending arms over head to perform cleaning tasks, and work in confined spaces.

Grooming

· Maintain a neat, clean, and professional appearance.

· Wear required uniform and name badge while on duty.

· Practice good personal hygiene consistent with a guest-facing hospitality environment.

· Comply with hotel grooming and appearance standards and safety requirements.

Pay: $15.50 - $15.75 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 30.0 per week
