Job Description:
The Materials Management Specialist performs complex, non-routine logistics and asset management assignments. This role is responsible for the full lifecycle of supplies and equipment—from acquisition to disposal—used to support critical projects.
You will oversee the management of Government Furnished Property (GFP) and Contractor Acquired Property (CAP), ensuring that all materials are procured, tracked, and stored in compliance with federal standards. This position requires high-level analytical skills to maintain stock availability and the decision-making ability to resolve unforeseen supply chain disruptions.

Key Responsibilities:
Warehouse & Inventory Lifecycle Management
- Full-Spectrum Oversight: Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of all project supplies, including procurement, receipt, storage, control, issuance, inventory, and final delivery.
- Property Management: Maintain accountability for GFP and CAP using the Automated Inventory Tracking System (AITS) and the FAA Logistics and Inventory System (LIS).
- Inventory Control: Implement a "First-In, First-Out" (FIFO) system; maintain the Inventory Control System (ICS) by part number to ensure 100% accuracy.
- Facility Maintenance: Responsible for the organization and operational readiness of warehouse facilities.
Logistics & Asset Tracking
- Calibration & Maintenance: Coordinate the calibration of test equipment with the FAA’s contracted calibration team.
- Barcoding: Oversee barcoding for fabricated racks and other government property to ensure seamless tracking.
- Shipping & Fleet: Research vendor pricing for national/international shipping; manage a fleet of 15 vehicles to support operational needs.
Procurement & Security
- Purchasing: Source materials for rack builds and special projects; track purchase orders and manage minor contracts.
- Security Clearance: Act as a Trusted Agent for the Office of Security, initiating background investigations and FAA badging for contractor personnel.
Reporting & Planning
- Analytical Reporting: Provide weekly and quarterly activity reports to the NEXCOM Program Office and Corporate HQ.
- Data Integrity: Maintain all vendor packing lists and enter data accurately into the system for COTR review.
Skills & Qualifications
- Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of material management, logistics, and computerized inventory systems.
- Material Handling: Proven experience in the receipt, storage, and issuance of materials, as well as the operation of warehouse equipment.
- Analytical & Planning Skills: Ability to forecast and assure the availability of GFP/CAP to prevent project delays.
- Problem Solving: Strong decision-making skills to manage unforeseen inventory shortages or logistical problems.
- Adaptability: Comfortable performing non-routine assignments that lack established precedents.
Requirements
- Education: Associate’s degree OR a 2-year technical training certificate.
- Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience in logistics or materials management.
- Certification: Must be able to attain the NPMA CPPS (Certified Professional Property Specialist) certification within three (3) months of hire.
- Clearance: Must be able to pass a background investigation for FAA badging and "Trusted Agent" status.
