What are the responsibilities and job description for the Gunsmith and Production Specialist position at Crown Precision Arms?
Company Overview:
Crown Precision Arms is a premium custom rifle manufacturer focused on building lightweight, precision-driven firearms using top-tier materials and proven gunsmithing methods. We are a family owned business that takes pride in craftsmanship, attention to detail, and delivering a product that performs in the field.
Our builds are not assembly line products. Every rifle is hand finished, carefully fitted, and built with purpose.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled, hands-on Lead Gunsmith & Production Specialist to play a key role in our day to day manufacturing operations.
This is a build first role for someone who takes ownership of their work and naturally brings organization and structure to the shop floor. While this role contributes to workflow direction and production efficiency, it is not a corporate management position. We are looking for someone who leads through execution, not hierarchy.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and takes pride in producing high-quality work while helping keep production moving efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform full rifle builds including assembly, chambering (if qualified), and final fitment
- Apply Cerakote finishes to company standards (surface prep, application, curing)
- Conduct function testing and assist with accuracy validation
- Maintain organization of parts, builds, and workflow across multiple active orders
- Help prioritize and sequence builds to improve production efficiency
- Identify bottlenecks and proactively suggest workflow improvements
- Ensure quality control standards are met at every stage of the build process
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work environment
- Collaborate with ownership and team members to keep builds on schedule
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a gunsmith (AR platforms and/or bolt-action rifles preferred)
- Experience with Cerakote application (required)
- Strong understanding of firearm assembly, tolerances, and function
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple builds simultaneously
- Self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership over work
- Ability to work efficiently without sacrificing quality
Preferred (Not Required):
- Experience with precision rifle builds and accuracy standards (sub-MOA expectations)
- Chambering and barrel work experience
- Familiarity with lightweight and carbon fiber components
- Experience improving or organizing shop workflows
What We’re Looking For (Important):
- Someone who takes pride in their craft
- Someone who leads by example, not by title
- Someone who sees what needs to be done and does it
- Someone who values quality over shortcuts
- Someone who works well within a team environment without ego
What This Role Is NOT:
- This is not a corporate management role
- This is not a sit-behind-a-desk position
- This is not a supervisory role focused on authority
This is a hands-on, production-focused position for someone who wants to be deeply involved in the build process while helping keep operations running smoothly.
Compensation:
- Competitive pay based on experience
- Opportunity for growth within a growing company
How to Apply:
Please submit your resume along with any relevant experience or examples of past work. If available, photos of previous builds or finishing work are highly encouraged.
