DRIVER HELPER

GENERAL PURPOSE

The purpose of this position is to assist truck drivers during the pick-up and delivery of linen from and to client locations by performing any combination of the following tasks:

Duties And Responsibilities

• Loads and unloads vehicles by hand.
• Secures items in position on the truck to prevent movement during shipment.
• Delivers merchandise on customer's premises and obtains receipt for the shipment.
• Assist the driver with customer service.
• Must represent the company professionally.
• Communicate with the manager of any discrepancies during the route.
• Help guide the truck to the loading dock if or when needed.
• Assist other drivers if needed, pre-load trailers and stage carts in the soil staging area.
• Picks up trash from the driving compartment and sweeps out the cargo area.
• Performs other duties as required by manager.
  
  

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

• High School Diploma or equivalent certification preferred.
• Must have at least 3-6 months of similar loading/unloading work experience.
• Good communication skills are required both in written and verbal format.
• Must be highly organized with the ability to follow instructions with minimal supervision.
• Must always have the ability to pay attention to details.
• Must be able to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions and must be able to sit in the truck for prolonged periods of time when in route to delivery points.
• Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing in the English language.
• Must be able to do constant heavy lifting often 75 or more pounds.
