Position Summary
The Dunnage Operator safely and efficiently processes parts for our customers. The general responsibilities of the position include those listed below, but Crown may identify other responsibilities of the position. They need to pay attention to material condition during processing and report all abnormalities in either the material or the function of the machine being operated.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete various tasks regarding production and shipment within Plex (ERP system).
- Inspects equipment prior to use to ensure proper setup and alignment; performs basic and routine adjustments and maintenance to machines.
- Keeping all work areas clean and organized.
- Operate production machinery in accordance with company procedures.
- Produce the required quantity of parts within established specifications and tolerances.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Ability to safely operate production machinery and forklift trucks.
- Strong organizational and time management skills to meet production schedules.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills for troubleshooting equipment and process issues.
- Computer proficiency for logging parts into ERP systems (e.g., Plex).
- Attention to detail to ensure parts meet specifications and tolerances.
- Ability to follow directions and work effectively in a team environment.
- Knowledge of OSHA and environmental regulations relevant to metals finishing operations.

Physical Requirements

- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
- Frequent use of hands to handle, feel, and operate machinery and tools.
- Regular reaching with hands and arms to position or adjust parts.
- Visual acuity is sufficient to read instructions, operate machines, and inspect finished parts.
- Capacity to perform repetitive motions and maintain focus in a production environment.
- Clear verbal and auditory communication to interact with team members and supervisors.
Working Conditions
- Industrial facility with exposure to machinery, noise, and varying temperatures. Must be able to adapt to varying temperatures and conditions depending on production needs.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Elevated noise levels requiring hearing protection.
- Wear protective clothing and/or Personal Protective Equipment required by the work environment or government regulations.
- Work performed in a manufacturing/production environment with exposure to: Fumes, airborne particles, and vibration from machinery.
- Moving mechanical parts and equipment.
- Position requires consistent adherence to OSHA and environmental safety standards.
- Full-time role with shift assignments; hours and days may vary depending on production schedules.
