Job description:
We are seeking a motivated and dependable Parts Counter Associate to join our growing hydraulic repair shop team. This position plays a critical role in supporting customers, technicians, and daily shop operations by identifying, sourcing, and supplying hydraulic and industrial components. The ideal candidate is customer-focused, mechanically inclined, organized, and able to thrive in a fast-paced industrial environment.
As a Parts Counter Associate, you will assist walk-in and phone customers, process parts orders, maintain inventory, and help ensure repairs are completed efficiently and accurately. Experience in hydraulics, industrial supply, automotive parts, or heavy equipment is preferred, but we are willing to train the right individual with a strong work ethic and eagerness to learn.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist customers at the parts counter by identifying and supplying hydraulic, pneumatic, and industrial components
- Provide excellent customer service to walk-in, phone, and email inquiries
- Process sales orders, quotes, invoices, and returns accurately and efficiently
- Identify hydraulic hoses, fittings, seals, cylinders, pumps, valves, and related components
- Support technicians and shop personnel by sourcing and organizing parts for repairs
- Maintain accurate inventory counts and assist with stock replenishment
- Receive, inspect, and stock incoming shipments
- Operate hose crimping and basic hydraulic assembly equipment when needed
- Keep the parts department clean, organized, and professional
- Work with vendors and suppliers to source specialty or hard-to-find parts
- Assist customers with cross-referencing and finding replacement components
- Follow company safety procedures and maintain a safe work environment
- Collaborate with the sales and repair team to ensure timely customer turnaround
- Use computer systems to manage inventory, customer orders, and part lookups
- Help build long-term customer relationships through reliable service and product knowledge
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in parts sales, industrial supply, automotive, heavy equipment, or hydraulic repair preferred
- Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn hydraulic systems and components
- Ability to identify hydraulic hoses, fittings, seals, pumps, valves, and cylinders
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced shop environment
- Basic computer skills and experience with inventory or point-of-sale systems
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to multitask and prioritize customer and shop needs effectively
- Dependable, punctual, and team-oriented attitude
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work on your feet throughout the day
- Forklift experience is a plus, but not required
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Valid driver’s license preferred
- Experience with hydraulic or industrial parts is a strong plus, but training is available for the right candidate
