POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Production Planning Manager will direct and be responsible for coordinating all production planning activities as well as warehouse and shipping activities at our Toledo, Ohio Manufacturing facility. This individual will be involved with the daily activities of production, inventory, warehousing and distribution for the product produced and stored in the plant. The ideal candidate for this position must be an advocate for production planning best practices and standardization.

Job Description
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Production Planning Manager will direct and be responsible for coordinating all production planning activities as well as warehouse and shipping activities at our Toledo, Ohio Manufacturing facility. This individual will be involved with the daily activities of production, inventory, warehousing and distribution for the product produced and stored in the plant. The ideal candidate for this position must be an advocate for production planning best practices and standardization.
Duties And Responsibilities
Reporting directly to the Plant Manager, the Production Planning Manager’s responsibilities would include, but not be limited to, the following:
- Assist in developing Master Schedule requirements from demand forecast, plant capacity, and historical data
- Interact with production and planning personnel to update and advise on order progress and new developments
- Manage volume as needed to meet customer requirements both internal and external
- Monitor inventories to minimize costs and achieve plant inventory goals
- Oversee development and maintenance of tools that enhance production planning capability.
- Responsible for audits for compliance with department standards and practices
- Maintaining accurate needs attention and obsolete inventory and implement measures for improvement.
- Track/analyze data and produce required reports
- Update and maintain the planning production system
- Interface with manufacturing, purchasing, and shipping employees on material status and production planning issues.
- Drive continuous improvement through training and strategic planning
- Performs other job-related duties as required or assigned
In addition to the specific responsibilities listed above, the ideal candidate will possess the following:
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business, logistics, operations, or related area
- 5 years of experience in production planning, logistics and materials handling role
- 3 years in a manufacturing environment
- Experience in planning component parts from various suppliers, to support plant operations.
- Working experience in balancing customer service levels along with inventory goals.
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft office: Word, Excel, Access.
- Exceptional organizational and project management skills.
- Excellent oral and written communications skills.
- The ability to work independently and with a team.
- Approximately 10% travel
- Packaging industry and or metals processing experience
- Certificates in APICS, CPSM, Six Sigma, and Lean Manufacturing
- Knowledge of AS400
- Capability and flexibility of managing changing business needs and requirements
- Proven record of applied critical thinking in a variety of situations
- Taking calculated initiative to drive improvements
- Hands on self-starter who is able to review a process, make recommendations, and then see it through to implementation.
- Effective oral and written communications skills
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as working independently and self-directed
- Process oriented with a continuous improvement mindset
- Ability to develop processes, train end users, and implement projects to completion
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook required
- While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and may be required to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- The associate may lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus.
- Generally works in an office setting but will be required to spend time each day inside a plant environment.
- While performing the duties of this job, the associate may be exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicular traffic.
- The associate may be exposed to a wide range of temperatures.
- The noise level is frequently loud.
