Job Summary:
The purpose of the Laboratory and Data Research Technician is the execution of commercial and R&D EVPT assays, support the Biobank processing labs and the Biobank Data Specialists to meet the company’s goals, objectives, and quality standards.
Responsibilities:
Cell culture laboratory:
• Isolation of tumor materials from fresh (cancer) patient tissues.
• Isolation of immune cell subsets from patient blood samples.
• 3D ex vivo culturing and drug treatments of patient tumor material.
• Co-culture assays with immune cells.
Histology and blood laboratory:
• Process blood in EDTA and Streck tubes to obtain plasma, buffy coat, and PBMCs.
• Prepare sections of human tissue for microscopic examination using principles and knowledge of histology techniques
• Prepare frozen sections of human tissue using a cryostat.
General laboratory:
• Follow all safety precautions when using chemicals and reagents demonstrating knowledge of Good Laboratory Practices, OSHA standards all following BSL2 laboratory safety standards.
• Properly dispose of contaminated biohazardous waste using universal precautions, CLIA, OSHA, and BSL2 regulations.
• Prepare solutions, stains, and reagents following Standard Operating Procedures.
• Ensure that all equipment, instruments, and accessories are in the proper state of readiness and cleanliness for daily operational use.
• Perform required quality control procedures for compliance with all local, state, and federal laws which include data entry, data generation, SOP review, and deviations for QC reports of tissue quality and daily lab tasks.
• Maintain proper documentation of required maintenance on laboratory equipment, instruments, and accessories.
• Store frozen samples and FFPE tissue blocks at appropriate temperatures following company Standard Operating Procedures.
• Maintain good housekeeping of the laboratory area.
• Maintain inventory and stock of laboratory reagents and supplies.
• Maintain patient confidentiality according to HIPAA rules and regulations.
Data research:
• Process customer orders.
• Create customer-specific data.
• Perform data review and query management.
Minimum Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in biology or related field, with two years of relevant industry experience.
• Experience in cell culture
Preferred Requirements:
• MSc in Biology or related field
• Expertise in immunology, oncology, cell biology
• Familiarity with primary tumor material and 3D in vitro cellular assays is a plus
•Experience in the field of oncology
•Initial experience with databases and query management
The salary range for this position is $23/hour - $32/hour. This salary (or salary range) is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience.
