SLI Former- 3rd Shift

JOB TITLE: SLI Former DEPARTMENT: Manufacturing

JOB SUMMARY: The SLI Former is responsible for interacting and working closely with the production shift supervisor on equipment set-up and equipment changeovers, day to day equipment operations and troubleshooting. This position must ensure the product meets all specifications and quality characteristics and machines are run within the set parameters.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Responsible for understanding and following policies, procedures and instructions.
   1. Ability to identify and report product, process, and quality system non-conformities to lead personnel.
   2. Responsible for controlling nonconforming products.
   3. Must support implementation of corrective/preventative and improvement actions.
2. Responsible for day-to-day housekeeping of the surrounding production floor area.
3. Follows all plant safety guidelines, practices, and procedures including the proper use of personal protective equipment where required.
4. Adjust nozzles and timer at acid filling station for fill batteries with sulfuric acid.
5. Confirms level of acid is accurate before installing Forming vent cap.
6. Responsible for moving filled battery from conveyor line onto Formation skid in correct order by referring to the proper skidding diagram.
7. Wires batteries together in circuit by referring to proper wiring diagram for each battery type.
8. Responsible for identifying skid of batteries with china pencil indicating item number, work order and his/her initials and places card in front of skid to indicate skid is ready for forklift.
9. Forklift operator responsible for transferring the skid to the charging racks will connect skid to respective charger number and removes plastic card.
10. Responsible for entering Formation program into the computer for each respective charger and logs the charger number used by circling the respective charger number on the forming sheet.
11. Verify the end of Formation gravity is correct and unplugs from charger. NOTE: if gravity is out of spec operator notifies supervisor or process lead to determine further action.
12. Troubleshoot skids of batteries that do not turn on and or fault out during formation.
13. Be familiar and compliant with the systems, procedures, and documentation of the Crown Quality System and how it relates to this position and Crown quality objectives.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be 18 years of age
• Experience with safety and environmental training
• Minimum 1 year manufacturing/factory experience preferred in a fast paced setting
• Basic math and computer skills
• Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers, supervision, and management
• Familiar with inspection equipment, gauges, and measuring tools

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand/walk for 8-10 hours at a time. Bending, twisting, and turning. Full use of both hands to finger, handle, or fell objects, tools, or tooling; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel crouch or crawl; talk to hear. The employee must be able to lift or move up to 75 pounds frequently and in excess of 140 pounds infrequently. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Must follow OSHA guidelines on respirator fit testing and proper wear. Will wear goggles or face shield at all times while in department.
