Oxide Mill Operator - 3rd Shift

JOB TITLE: Oxide Mill Operator                                                                                                                                                                      DEPARTMENT: Manufacturing 

JOB SUMMARY: The Oxide Mill Operator produces lead oxide by milling soft lead according to quality and production requirements by following work instructions.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Responsible for: 
   1. Understanding and following environmental rules, policies, procedures and instructions. 
   2. Ability to identify and report product, process and quality system non-conformities to lead personnel.
   3. Must support implementation of corrective/preventative and improvement actions. 
   4. Follows all plant safety guidelines, practices, and procedures including the proper use of personal protective equipment where required. 
2. Responsible for day-to-day housekeeping of the surrounding production floor area.
3.  Setup mill according to type of oxide to be ran.
4. Responsible for overall mill operations, including:
   1. Make appropriate adjustments, repairs or preventative maintenance as needed.
   2. Contact supervisor regarding any out of spec oxide.
   3. Contact supervisor or maintenance for any mechanical difficulties.
   4. Track and maintain inventory levels and proper storage of soft lead and finished oxide.
5. Document environmental accountability for mill operations.
6. Understand, monitor, adjust, and interpret gauges and instruments:
   1. Lead flow
   2. Air flow
   3. Water flow
   4. Temperature
7. Preform visual/audible inspection of operation and control/preform analytic tests:
   1. Free lead content
   2. Acid absorption
   3. Apparent density
   4. Wet sieve analysis
   5. Hourly lead usage
8. Be familiar and compliant with the systems, procedures, and documentation of the Crown Quality System and how it relates to this position and Crown quality objectives.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:  

• Must be 18 years of age 
• Experience with safety and environmental training 
• Minimum 1 year manufacturing/factory experience preferred in a fast paced setting
• Basic math and computer skills
• Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers, supervision, and management
• Familiar with inspection equipment, gauges, and measuring tools
• Must have or be able to obtain a Crown Battery Forklift License

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand/walk for 8-10 hours at a time. Bending, twisting, and turning. Full use of both hands to finger, handle, or fell objects, tools, or tooling; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel crouch or crawl; talk to hear. The employee must be able to lift or move up to 75 pounds frequently and in excess of 140 pounds infrequently. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Must follow OSHA guidelines on respirator fit testing and proper wear. Will wear goggles or face shield at all times while in department.
