What You'll Do
Responsible for the management of the marine operations department within a region.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
Education & Credentials:
Bachelor's degree from a maritime academy or equivalent preferred. At least 15 years in a related maritime business may substitute for a degree.
Experience
Proficient in Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Outlook and Word.
Other
Ability to effectively manage projects that may vary in nature and scope. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with work teams and customers. Ability to prioritize, organize and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously and train and direct the work of others. Ability to develop goals and objectives and effectively manage projects that may vary in nature and scope. Knowledge of and ability to identify safety hazards and necessary safety precautions to establish a safe work environment in accordance with USCG, federal, state and local safety regulations, protocols, and environmental health standards. Knowledge of budgeting and financial management. Knowledge of ABS and USCG rules and regulations.
Working Conditions
Works both inside an office environment and also outside in conditions of both high and low temperatures. May be exposed to odors, dust, dirt, mechanical hazards, high noise levels and potentially dangerous equipment. Must be able to crouch and stoop to get into areas with restricted headroom and be able to climb ladders. May require extended use of computer keyboard and viewing of computer monitor and ability to sit for long periods of time.

What You'll Do
Responsible for the management of the marine operations department within a region.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct, interpret and administer the company's policies and procedures.
- Generally, coordinate all vessel operations and activities with multiple departments to ensure all operations are carried out safely and in conformance with all applicable laws and regulations.
- May prepare annual budgets and monitor variances.
- May develop and oversee marine crew development programs.
- Work closely with other departments (e.g., HR, Training, SSQE) to ensure that all crew members are properly trained and in compliance with all Regulatory and company requirements.
- Confront marginal performance of subordinates and implement barging unit agreements.
Education & Credentials:
Bachelor's degree from a maritime academy or equivalent preferred. At least 15 years in a related maritime business may substitute for a degree.
Experience
- 5 years of experience with demonstrated increases of supervisory responsibility within the disciplines of the maritime community i.e.: Operations, Engineering, Petroleum and Cargo Transportation with a minimum of 2 years of sea time.
- Demonstrated experience in the tug and barge industry preferred.
Proficient in Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Outlook and Word.
Other
- USCG License required. An active Merchant Mariner Credential preferred.
- May be required to travel to multiple locations away from the homeport.
