Responsibilities

What You'll Do:

Provides leadership for the labor relations function, aligning labor strategy with enterprise priorities. Leads contract strategy and negotiations, partners with business units to establish measurable people and safety-related goals, and drives process improvements that strengthen compliance, performance, and employee relations outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leads end-to-end collective bargaining strategy—including preparation, costing, negotiation, ratification, and ongoing administration—while maintaining constructive union relationships and advising leaders on risk, precedent, and business impact.
  • Provides input in developing the labor relations vision, multi-year strategy, and governance to support the company’s mission, values, and business objectives.
  • Serves as chief negotiator or spokesperson as needed and partners closely with Legal, HR, Finance, and operational leaders to align contract terms with operational needs, safety goals, workforce planning, and budget targets.
  • Partners to develop and implements enterprise and site-level initiatives that improve employee experience, labor-management effectiveness, and organizational performance.
  • Continuously improves labor relations processes including grievance handling, investigations, arbitration readiness, contract compliance, and reporting; leveraging data and lessons learned to reduce cycle time and prevent recurrence. Recommends and develops departmental policies for the labor relations team.

  • Ability to manage conflict and demonstrate the courage to challenge organizational thinking and the status quo.
  • Ability to interpret and apply related federal, state and local laws, ordinances, rules and regulations related to the administration of labor/industrial relations.
  • Knowledge of and ability to demonstrate effectiveness with contract negotiation and administration as well as the ability to execute contracts in compliance with corporate guidelines.
  • Knowledge of the principles, practices, and standards of human resources and labor/industrial relations administration.
  • Skilled in managing audits, charges and arbitrations by the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) and Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC).

Qualifications

Education & Credentials:

  • Bachelor’s degree labor relations, human resources or a related field; or equivalent combination of post high school education and experience equal to four (4) years.

Experience

  • 8 - 10 years of related corporate labor relations/human resources experience, with 5-8 years of experience in a supervisory capacity.

Technical Skills

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Outlook and Word.
