Construction Operations Manager | Field Operations & Customer Experience

Crowe Fence & Deck Supply
Amherst, NH Full Time
POSTED ON 8/10/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 2/4/2027

Build the team that builds the work

Crowe Fence & Deck Supply has served Southern New Hampshire for more than 40 years. We design, supply, fabricate, and install fencing, decking, railings, pergolas, and other outdoor-living products for homeowners, contractors, commercial clients, and municipalities.

We are looking for a construction-minded operations leader to take ownership of the people and processes that move our projects from signed contract through successful installation.

You do not need fencing experience. You do need to understand how field work gets done: planning labor and materials, setting expectations, solving problems, developing crews, and holding people accountable while earning their respect.

This is a hands-on leadership position with meaningful authority to improve the operation and build a strong, dependable team.

What You Will Own

  • Lead daily installation, fabrication, scheduling, inventory, and yard/shop operations
  • Manage and develop field crews, shop employees, project coordination, and other operational team members
  • Turn sold projects into organized, installation-ready work
  • Coordinate labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and jobsite requirements
  • Establish clear schedules, priorities, responsibilities, and performance expectations
  • Visit jobsites regularly to support crews, inspect quality, and resolve problems
  • Recruit, onboard, train, coach, and retain dependable employees
  • Build a culture of safety, respect, accountability, urgency, and pride in workmanship
  • Own operational performance, including labor efficiency, schedule attainment, quality, callbacks, and gross margin
  • Improve communication and handoffs among sales, customers, the office, fabrication, and installation
  • Introduce practical systems and technology that improve visibility and execution
  • Help ownership plan staffing, capacity, equipment, and operational priorities
  • Keep customers informed when field conditions or schedules change

  • Customer and Project Coordination

    • Review sold projects with the sales representative before they are released for installation
    • Confirm that project scope, measurements, materials, access, site conditions, and customer expectations are complete and buildable
    • Participate with sales in pre-installation customer quality checks when appropriate
    • Serve as the primary operational contact for customers after the project enters production
    • Communicate scheduling, preparation requirements, field conditions, delays, and changes clearly and promptly
    • Work with customers and crews to resolve questions or concerns during installation
    • Conduct or oversee post-installation quality checks and customer walkthroughs
    • Coordinate punch-list work and ensure commitments are completed
    • Partner with sales and office staff on final customer follow-up, satisfaction, reviews, referrals, and unresolved concerns

    What Success Looks Like

During your first year, we expect you to:

    • Create a reliable operating rhythm for scheduling, job preparation, and crew communication
    • Improve visibility into project status, labor needs, and upcoming constraints
    • Reduce avoidable delays, callbacks, rework, and last-minute surprises
    • Strengthen accountability while earning the trust of the field and office teams
    • Build a dependable recruiting, onboarding, and training process
    • Improve operational margins without sacrificing quality or customer experience
    • Develop team members who can take increasing ownership of daily execution

You May Be a Strong Fit If You Have

    • Five or more years of progressive leadership experience in construction, installation, manufacturing, field service, or a skilled-trade business
    • Experience directly leading field, shop, production, or blue collar teams
    • Experience communicating directly with homeowners, commercial customers, or project stakeholders
    • The ability to explain construction issues clearly and calmly when a customer is concerned
    • Working knowledge of job costing, labor planning, scheduling, inventory, and operational performance
    • A track record of improving a team or operation not simply maintaining one
    • The confidence to make decisions, address poor performance, and work constructively with ownership
    • Strong organization and follow-through in a fast changing environment
    • Comfort using scheduling, CRM, project management, and reporting technology
    • A valid driver’s license and willingness to spend time in the office, shop, yard, and field

Experience in fencing, decking, landscaping, hardscaping, roofing, remodeling, lumber, building materials, specialty contracting, manufacturing, or another installation business is prefferred but not required.

    How We Lead

We believe a strong leader can be direct without being disrespectful. The right person sets standards, follows through, listens to the people doing the work, and addresses problems before they become habits.

At Crowe, the details matter: how we prepare a project, how we treat employees, how we communicate with customers, and how we respond when something does not go according to plan.

    Compensation and Benefits

    • $80,000–$110,000, based on relevant experience
    • Performance incentive tied to agreed operational results
    • Company vehicle and fuel for business use
    • Company-provided computer, tablet, and phone
    • Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance
    • Paid time off and paid holidays
    • 401(k) with company match
    • Training and professional development
    • Meaningful opportunity to shape the next chapter of an established local company
