Job Summary:
We are seeking a motivated Data Science Intern to support the development of backend APIs and contribute to data science model implementation. The ideal candidate will work across cross-functional projects, combining backend engineering with analytical modeling to deliver scalable, data-driven solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain backend APIs for ongoing projects
- Implement, test, and optimize machine learning models
- Assist with data preprocessing, feature engineering, and exploratory data analysis
- Integrate machine learning algorithms into production-ready environments
- Document code, workflows, and methodologies for both backend and ML pipelines
- Participate in team discussions to align project deliverables with business goals
Educational Requirements:
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Engineering, or a related field
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Proficiency in Python and/or R for data analysis and backend development
- Experience with REST APIs and backend frameworks (e.g., Flask, Django, FastAPI)
- Working knowledge of databases and querying languages (e.g., SQL)
- Familiarity with machine learning algorithms such as regression, clustering, decision trees, and neural networks
- Understanding of statistical concepts including hypothesis testing, distributions, and regression analysis
- Experience applying ML models to real-world datasets and interpreting results
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for team coordination and stakeholder engagement
- Prior experience or coursework in cloud platforms, version control (Git), or containerization (e.g., Docker) is a plus
Preferred Skills and Experience:
$15 per hour in Dallas, Texas and equivalent in other states.
