Director Of Business Development Position Responsibilities
STRATEGIC GROWTH AND FINANCIAL ANALYSIS
- Develop rapid, defensible P&L analyses to evaluate physician recruitment, service line expansion, and new program opportunities for both Crouse Medical Practice and non-Crouse Medical Practice providers.
- Quantify expected volume, revenue, margin, capital requirements, and payback periods for proposed growth initiatives.
- Identify underperforming service lines and support turnaround, optimization, or exit strategies as appropriate.
- Partner with executive leadership, service line leaders, Crouse Medical Practice, and Medical Staff Affairs to identify and prioritize physician recruitment needs aligned with strategic goals.
- Analyze referral patterns, referral leakage, and market opportunity to strengthen internal referrals and establish new referral relationships.
- Support strategies to improve alignment and integration between employed and independent physicians.
- Collaborate with service line leaders to develop formal revenue and volume growth plans with defined targets, timelines, and accountability.
- Support analysis and planning for both revenue-generating and non-revenue service lines, including pathology, radiology, anesthesia, and other ancillary services, to optimize system contribution margin and operational efficiency.
- Assist with the evaluation and implementation of new clinical programs, procedures, and technologies.
- Lead or support the vetting of new procedures, equipment, and technologies in cardiac, neuro, interventional radiology, surgical services, and other high-investment clinical areas.
- Partner with Finance and Operations to prioritize capital requests based on strategic alignment, financial return, capacity impact, and clinical need.
- Prepare business cases and recommendations for executive leadership and Board review.
- Monitor and analyze market trends, competitor activity, payer dynamics, demographic changes, and regulatory developments that impact growth strategy.
- Provide actionable insights to executive leadership to inform strategic planning, partnership decisions, and long-range growth initiatives.
- Translate strategic growth priorities into executable initiatives with clear owners, milestones, and performance metrics.
- Track performance against growth targets and adjust strategies based on results.
- Prepare presentations, analyses, and recommendations for executive leadership, Board committees, and strategic planning sessions.
- Assumes other duties as assigned by the Chief Executive Officer.
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in healthcare business development, strategic planning, finance or service line management required.
- Demonstrated experience developing business cases, financial models, and growth strategies in a hospital or health system environment.
- Experience working with physicians, service line leaders, and executive leadership teams.
- Proficient user of all MS Office programs and Outlook.
