The Cardiology Outpatient Testing Department is currently hiring a Cardiac Ultrasonographer. The Cardiac Ultrasonographer performs diagnostic echocardiograms and assists the cardiologist in interpreting and analyzing the information obtained during the examinations.
Hours: 8:00am-4:30pm, 8:30am-5:00pm with other shifts as needed.
Pay: $35.70 - $67.15 / hour
Responsibilities:
- Accurately obtains the patient's medical history and identifies the reason for echocardiogram examination.
- Competently performs two-dimensional, M-mode, doppler and color doppler modalities and collaboratively assists physicians with transesophageal, dobutamine stress and treadmill stress studies.
- Precisely obtains echocardiographic images at rest and immediate post-exercise/during infusion of dobutamine, for interpretation by the department cardiologist during stress echocardiography.
- Meticulously collects illustrative and educational cases to assist department leadership in the coordination of educational sessions for technicians, physicians and students.
- Accurately documents and retrieves patient echocardiographic data through department computer system.
- Thoroughly proofreads transcribed echocardiography reports prior to physician signature and subsequent distribution to patient chart and referring physician office.
- Assumes other duties as assigned by department leadership.
Requirements:
- Graduate of a diagnostic medical sonography program accredited by the AMA Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation (CAHEA)
- Current certification as a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) is required. If hired prior to receiving certification, the employee must take and pass the certification exam within the first year of employment. Continued employment as a Cardiac Ultrasonographer is contingent on the employee passing the certification exam. Re-certification must be maintained throughout employment at Crouse Hospital.
- Must have Basic Life Support (BLS) certification at the time of hire or within two (2) weeks after hire.
