Role Description The Geotechnical Technician will support geotechnical investigations and analysis for railroad projects across the US, but primarily focused in the southeast. This full-time position involves field testing, sampling, and inspections; documenting soil and material conditions; and preparing clear and accurate reports and logs. Daily activities may include coordinating with drillers, engineers and survey staff, reviewing plans and specifications, and helping ensure compliance with applicable standards and project requirements. The technician will also use computer-based tools to organize project data and communicate findings to project teams in a timely manner.
Qualifications
- Effective Communication skills for collaborating with engineers, field staff, and clients, and for preparing clear documentation.
- Associate’s degree or technical certificate in civil engineering technology, geotechnical engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience). Will train the right candidate without a degree if they display aptitude and interest.
- Ability to work safely in outdoor and field environments, including rail corridors and construction sites.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to project sites as needed. Approximately 80% Travel.
- Experience in railroad, transportation, or infrastructure projects is a plus.
